Brion Breaks 40K mark

Level: 2 Blinds: 50/100 Ante: 0

From UTG+1, Ian Brion opened the action at 250 and found a call from the middle position player. However, the cut-off wanted more and re-raised to a huge 11,000– probably too big of a bet at this stage. Brion was a willing customer though and went over the top for 22,000! The MP player folded, the CO player made the call for his final 18K and showed Q Q.

No problem says Brion who showed A A.

The dealer boarded 4 3 9 9 7 and the CO player is booted out as Brion jumps to roughly 40,000 in chips.

Narang’s partner-in-crime arrives

Level: 2 Blinds: 50/100 Ante: 0

So we now have both our 2-Man Team Heads Up champs playing in Day 1A today as Jose Drilon takes his seat—just an arms length away from Mandeep Narang. Fair warning to all other players: Drilon and Narang won the team event the other day and both are looking for deep runs in this main event as well.

Action picking up

Level: 2 Blinds: 50/100 Ante: 0

Over at Vincent Rubianes’ table, we saw 5 players in the pot after a series of raise and re-raise.

So much for the preflop action as all players checked the flop A 9 K. At the turn K however, the hi-jack player bet 2,100 and Rubianes at the button made the call. The river 2 was checked by both players, hi-jack showed a busted flush draw and Rubianes flashes his K-7 for the trips.

More notable pros are here

Speaking of Sekiya…

Level: 1 Blinds: 25/50 Ante: 0

He just got off the wrong foot. With the community 7 8 6 5 4 already boarded, we saw him being re-raised to a considerable amount by Vincent Rubianes at the river… Sekiya was forced to fold and Rubianes stacks his chips to over 24,000.

Day 1A underway here at Resorts World Manila

Level: 1 Blinds: 25/50 Ante: 0

The first 60-minute round is off and we’re currently look at 62 players so far as per the big board. Hopefuls can still register and enter up to the end of Level 4 so we’re sure this number gets bumped up later. Starting blinds are at 25-50 with a stack of 20,000— so our players today will have plenty of opportunity to play around early into the 2013 APT Philippines Main Event.
