A very short-stacked player at the button shoved with just around 40,000 and was called by 2 players from the blinds– Ikeda Tatsuya at the small blind and Miller Zhang at the big blind.
Unfortunately for him, the blinds had real and legit hands:
Button player: Q♥ 8♦
Tatsuya: J♣ J♦
Zhang: K♠ K♣
Zhang was covered by Tatsuya at this point and needed to avoid any jack to survive as well.
The board A♣ 6♦ 3♦ 3♥ K♥ ran out which means the button player is the bubble for this APT Main Event. As much as we wanted to get the name we couldn’t as he disappeared almost immediately after the hand.
Zhang doubles up to around 100,000 and Tatsuya drops to below 50,000 but at least, is still in the money.
Tam Truong means business.
Flop was 9♦ 5♠ 8♠ and Truong check-calls an opponent’s bet of 8,500. He did the same on the turn 9♠ when the opponent fired another 8,500. On the river 9♣ it got even more interesting: Truong checks but opponent bet big this time with 50,000.
Truong tanked and tanked… And made the call.
Good call as the opponent actually missed and had only 10♠ 4♦. Truong had 6♦ 6♥ to take down the pot. Truong has now around 185,000.
With 27 places paid the next player to bust out will really be in a lot of pain.
We’re playing down to this level OR ITM. With 31 players left we’re four off from the ITM number.
The battle of the big stacks was inevitable as tables are cut down with players busting out left and right.
The latest is the heads-on collision between Stephen Chidwick and Moses Saquin– both players came in as two of the chip leaders and remained as two of the leaders all throughout Day 2.
And this battle was all over preflop.
From the cut-off, Chidwick opened to 4,800 only to see Saquin re-pop to 18,000. Chidwick, relaxed and cool, made it to 51,000. Saquin had his own plans though, moving all-in with his big stack worth around 180,000.
Chidwick tanks and folds.
Saquin has now around 210,000 and Chidwick drops to just 150,000.
Andrew Gaw has now around 298,000 in chips.
He’s fresh off winning a pot with just 5♦ J♦ on a board of J♣ 8♠ 4♠ 8♦ Q♦
Lebanon’s Riyadh Fawaz has just eliminated the most popular player in this room: Joe Hachem.
Post-flop of 7♠ 10♣ 6♥ Hachem bet 6,000 to open the action from the small blind. Fawaz from the button raised to 16,000 and saw Hachem move all-in for around 50,000. The Lebanese made the call putting the PokerAce ambassador’s tournament life at risk.
Hachem: 6♣ 7♦
Fawaz: 10♦ 7♣
Hachem couldn’t get out of this hole with no sixes on the turn 3♠ and river 4♠ and he busts out of the Day 2 of the APT Main Event.
Fawaz meanwhile have earned the bragging rights of being the “man who busted out Joe Hachem”. More importantly, he has now around 200,000 in chips.
