Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2013

Bagged and Tagged!

Level: 8 Blinds: 250/500 Ante: 50

That’s it for Day 1A of the 2013 APT Philippines Main Event! We’ll have the recap in our home page for today’s action. You can also check out the chip count tab in the live reporting page for the leaders today!

See you again tomorrow at 1PM for Day 1B!

Manila Millions champ out on last hand of the night

Level: 8 Blinds: 250/500 Ante: 50

Looking to steal the blinds could be a bad thing. Joseph Cheong aimed to do that in the final hand of the night and dearly paid for it.

Going all-in with 10 7 he found a caller in Dereck Leaño who was apologetic with the call but had no choice as he was holding pocket kings. Flop 6 3 Q, turn 5 and river 9 came and so did the end of Cheong’s Day 1A stint.

Probably not too big a deal for Cheong: he IS THE Manila Millions champion.

Hachem out! (Blame Razavi)

Level: 8 Blinds: 250/500 Ante: 50

Sam Razavi has busted out yet another player and none bigger than this one: Joe Hachem.

Preflop brought both players to raise and re-raising wars. And almost always that means more or all chips in the middle. That’s what exactly happened in the Razavi vs. Hachem showdown.

Razavi: A J
Hachem: K Q

Flop: 10 2 5
Turn: 7
River: 2

And just like that Hachem’s Day 1A is over. Razavi nears the century mark with over 90,000.

Never too Young to be a chip lead!

Level: 8 Blinds: 250/500 Ante: 50

We haven’t seen each stack but most likely Cho Young Wa is the current chip leader with over 145,000 after a big win that busted out a player.

One player from under the gun opened the action and was called by Woo at the cut-off position. The big blind player looked for a bigger pot however, and re-popped to 20,000! UTG got out of the way but Wa wanted more: he three-bet forcing the guy across him to move all-in if he calls. BB player did meet him and we have a showdown for a very, very big pot:

BB player: 5 5
Wa: K K

The BB player needed much help and the flop A 10 3 did give him anything at all. Neither did the turn Q and river 7 and it looks like Woo will be one of our chip leaders with his newest huge haul.

Raloto gets some off Arce

Level: 7 Blinds: 200/400 Ante: 50

From UTG Neil Arce bet 1,300 and found a caller Giselle Raloto, from the button.

The dealer flopped 3 K K and both players checked their option. When the turn A came, Arce led out with 2,000, which was called by Raloto. On the river, Arce checked and couldn’t call Raloto’s bet of 5,000.

Raloto climbs to roughly 33,000.

Cheong staying alive

Level: 7 Blinds: 200/400 Ante: 50

Vincent Rubianes led out post-flop 8 Q 3 with 1,800. Cheong from across the table quickly moved all-in for his final 9,000. Rubianes took a good 3 minutes before deciding to fold even as he covered Cheong’s stack. With the small win, Cheong stays alive but needs lots of work to be among tonight’s leaders.

Count ’em

Level: 7 Blinds: 200/400 Ante: 50

Estimated chip counts from around the room:

Neil Arce – 58,000
Vic de Guzman – 28,000
Do Hoang Anh – 93,000
Ian Brion – 86,000
JC Tran – 75,000

Last level of Day 1A so one of these guys might be our chip leader in less than an hour.

Set over set saves Tran

Level: 7 Blinds: 200/400 Ante: 50

With a flop of 5 K 6 a player went all-in to which JC Tran called.

Tran had pocket sixes and was ahead of his opponent’s pocket fives. Turn 4 and river 5 brought no quads and Tran stays in the tournament with a double-up to roughly 25,000.

2 pairs flushed down by Razavi

Level: 7 Blinds: 200/400 Ante: 50

A hi-jack player opened the action preflop and Sam Razavi from the cutoff made the call.

Dealer flopped Q 6 9 and action the Razavi’s opponent led out with 1,600. Razavi replied with a re-raise but the player didn’t blink and 3-bet to 12,000! Razavi wouldn’t let up too, he went over the top and the player was a willing customer as he put all of his chips to the middle. Razavi called and we have a showdown:

Hi-jack player: 6 9
Razavi: J Q

Razavi’s top pair was trailing but immediately he grabbed the advantage when the 8 landed on the turn. No 6 or 9 on the river and Razavi took down the pot.
