Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2013

Drilon ousted!

Level: 10 Blinds: 400/800 Ante: 100

Thang Truong is taking all comers.

We did not see the action but we saw Jose Drilon busted out courtesy of Truong, who is now officially on a heater.

He was collecting the chips from the middle by the time we got to the table and a disappointed Drilon exiting the tournament are… Good estimate is that Truong has now around 140,000 chips.

Truong’s turn bet scares off Lovett

Level: 10 Blinds: 400/800 Ante: 100

With the board J 5 9 2 already tabled we saw Thang Truong bet two neon green chips for 10,000 from under the gun… Action was on Brian Lovett at the button and he spent some time considering his move. With just around 25,000 behind him, calling this bet could mean completely committing to this pot…

Lovett eventually threw away his hand giving the big pot to Truong who has now well over 100,000 chips…

Down to 81 players…

Level: 10 Blinds: 400/800 Ante: 100

… as the 10th level begins. We started today at 101 players but we’re still long ways to go before ITM (27th place) so expect lots of good poker to be played in the next few hours.

Among the early casualties are Mandeep Narang and PokerAce ambassador Steve Gee plus other real short stacks that entered today’s play… Including the man we only know as “Zorro”…

No Main Event deep run for Mandeep

Level: 9 Blinds: 300/600 Ante: 75

One of the 2 Man Team Heads Up event champion is now gone from the main event. By the time we reach the table Mandeep Narang was already standing up and going straight to the rail…

Not a very deep run in this main event but he still has one side event title on the bag so pretty much a good APT run for Mr. Narang. (Not to mention that there are still a slew of side events from today to Wednesday).

Short stack Tchong back at it

Level: 9 Blinds: 300/600 Ante: 75

Australian Michael Kue Seong Tchong has a long name and a short stack (18,575) when Day 2 started, now he has a long name and a bigger stack– above average now with 66,000 or so.

Another Australian in David Xin Zhao opened the betting to 3,600 but saw Stephen Chidwick re pop it to 8,000. Acting from the big blind, Tchong did more than what was asked to protect his BB: he shoved his stack worth roughly 28,000.

Zhao immediately threw away his hand but Chidwick, who’s one of our chip leaders spent some time in the tank. He would eventually call and we have an early showdown:

Tchong: K K
Chidwick: J J

The board ran out 4 Q 2 4 Q and Tchong gets the big double-up and survives the tournament.

It’s on now!

Level: 9 Blinds: 300/600 Ante: 75

We’re looking at the chip counts and these are the top three players with big targets on their backs (or stacks!):

Cho Young Woo (Korea) – 163,200 at table #5
Stephen Chidwick (United Kingdom) with 106,850 at table #3
Do Hoang Anh (Vietnam) with 94,750 at table #4

Curiously Sam Razavi who’s at 4th with 91,750 also is starting play at table #4… That smells fireworks…
