Rivera continues to rise

After winning a double up with pocket aces earlier, Marc Rivera seems to be on a steady rise. He recently won two hands in a row. In the first one he was in a three-way raised pot with a board showing A 3 A. Gerald Casey and Rivera checked to button player Kyungrok Kim who bet 3700. Casey folded and Rivera joined in with a call. At the turn of J, both checked. Then on the river of 7, Rivera led out for 7k and Kim called. Rivera won with his A 5 trips.

The hand right after had Rivera raising to 4k and getting called by Lim Yo Hwan. At the flop of K 10 A, Riveral bet 3k and Hwan quietly called. At the turn of 6 Rivera continued and dropped in a 7k bet. Hwan smooth-called again. On the river of 10, Rivera laid out 15k and with that, he won the pot with Hwan folding. Rivera showed his A.


Tech busts out

John Tech moved all in with his short stack and was called by Lim Yo Hwan. Tech had A 2 and Hwan had A J. The board ran K 7 8 9 9, and Tech was out of the main event.


Casey gives Rivera a double up

Marc Rivera pushed all in with around 30k and was happy to get a caller. Rivera had A A and Gerald Casey had A K The board bricked and Rivera doubled up to over 60k.


Simba’s rockets fall to Chua

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Sim Jae Kyung aka Simba and Ying Lim Chua were caught up in a hand that went all the way to the river. At that point, Chua pushed all in and Simba called for his tournament life. Chua had Q 10 and Simba had A A with the board running K Q 8 2 10. Simba was eliminated.


Yau bluffs Tech for the pot

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Yen Yau Shern proved his poker prowess in a hand against John Tech. It began with Tech raising to 4500 and Yau calling. At the flop of 4 3 6, Yau checked to Tech who bet 5400. Yau responded with an 18k raise which Tech ended up calling. At the turn of 8, Yau checked again, Tech bet 8k, and Yau called. On the river of A, Yau announced all in and Tech backed away with a fold. Yau showed his J 10 bluff. Tech down to 25k.


Top pair no good for Avila

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Jamie Avila pushed all in on a board of Q 9 8 and William Kang was quick to call. Kang had 9 8 and Avila had K Q. With the turn of 7 and river of 2, Avila failed to improve and he was eliminated by Kang’s two pairs.


Nakano pushes with aces

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

With his massive stack, Kota Nakano pushed all his chips in the middle against Jeremy Giam who initially raised to 7k. Giam also had a big stack and opted to give up his hand. Nakano showed pocket aces.


Yogo rails Leonarez

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Iori Yogo defends his ladies and they do him well. He raised to 4500 which was answered with a shove by Jessie Leonarez to over 30k. Yogo called and at the showdown, Yogo’s pocked queens dominated Leonarez’s pocket nines. The board drew blanks and Yogo eliminated Leonarez.


Philips sends Lee packing

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Alex Lee was tangled in a hand that started with him raising to 4k. Dennis Philips and SJ Kim called him to see the flop come 8 4. Kim checked, Lee bet 5500, Philips raised to 11k, Kim folded, then Lee pushed for an additional 47k to Philips. Philips called and Lee showed his 5 5 pair with a gut shot draw while Philips was in a flush draw situation with J 10. The turn of 6 gave Philips one of the outs he needed and with that, Lee was drawing dead and out.
