Set over set between Benz and Sotiris

Sets are definitely one of the hardest hands to read at the flop. When that happens, there are usually traps leading to all ins especially when two players land set. That is exactly what happened in this hand. With a board of 2 J 7 K 4 completed and pot of 10k in the middle, Sebastian Benz bet 9k to nearly double the pot. Sotiris Axiotiadis replied with an all in for 8550 more. Benz called and at the showdown, Sotiris had 7 7 set well dominating Benz’s 2 2 set. Sotiris doubled up.


Park with a big double up

With just over 28k, Kevin Park decided not to deal with counting out a bet instead announced all in. He was called by one player with more chips than him. Park held pocket jacks and the caller had ace-nine. The board improved Park to a set and he was awarded a big double up.


Bringley’s straight boots a set of cowboys

Despite losing some chips in the previous hand, Gerard Bringley turned it around on the next hand. Kicking off the preflop betting round was Brice Augustyn with a raise to 600 and was called by three players including Bringley. When the action fell on the big blind player, he raised to 2150 which saw lots of fold except for Bringley. The board ran 2 7 J, the bb player bet 3500 and Bringley flat-called. Bringley did the same thing on the turn of 5 when the bb bet 5k. Then on the river of K, the bb player was all in and Bringley quickly called. Bringley had 9 8 for a winning flush against the bb’s K K set.


Sly Shi filled up against Bringley

Corine Shi got herself in a hand with Gerard Bringley. Action started with a raise to 700 by Bringley which Shi called on the small blind seat. At the flop of J 4 4, Shi check-called Bringley’s bet of 800 and the turn was felted, 6. Both players checked. On the river of J, Shi decided to end her checking and bet 2k. Bringley called and at the showdown, Shi won with Q J full house.


Jeon vs Patni

Level: 6 Blinds: 150-300 Ante: 25

With a 4700 pot in the middle and a board of 10 8 10 2, Seung Soo Jeon bet 5k and Kunal Patni threw a yellow in to continue on to the river with him. When the river card of 2 was dealt, Jeon announced all in and Patni folded. Jeon showed one card, 9.


Augustyn doubles up

Brice Augustyn needed to get something going and found just the moment to do so when he looked down at A K. He shoved with just over 10k and Hajime Iwakura called with A 8. The board ran 9 7 5 10 giving Augustyn a bit of a scare, but with the river of 9, he doubled up and is now back to around starting stack.


Big slick for Dementev boots one

It was a preflop all in by a player with around 10k and Andrei Dementev quickly called. Dementev had A K dominating the player’s A Q. The board ran blanks and Dementev was shipped the pot while booting one to the rail. Dementev now up to 47k chips.


Marc Rivera likes his fives

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

Earlier, Marc Rivera had a set of fives that won him a small pot. In this hand, he won a larger pot in a hand against Jamie Avila. On a board of 9 5 6, Avila checked to Rivera who bet 1k. Avila raised to make it 3500 and Rivera flat-called. At the turn of 3, both players checked and the river was dealt, Q. Avila checked again, Rivera bet 6k, and Avila just called. Rivera had 5[5c} for a set.


Pasco burned at the river, eliminated by Tanaka

Jerwin Pasco saw his last hand today when he went all in on a board of 7 8 J A and was called by Shinobu Tanaka. Pasco had 9 10 for a good looking straight against Tanaka’s J J set. Though ahead, Tanaka still had outs to overtake and with the river landing 7, Tanaka completed a full house and railed Pasco.
