Tan Tong eliminates APT champion Kannapong Thanarattrakul

Level: 12 Blinds: 600 - 1200 Ante: 1200

APT Tokyo Japan Main Event champion Kannapong Thanarattrakul has fallen out of the running with Tan Tong scooping up his chips.

On a board A Q 5 6 K, and 60k in the middle, Thanarattrakul jammed his remaining 27.5k stack sending Singaporean player Tan Tong tanking. After a couple of minutes, Tong said he had ace-queen then reluctantly made the call. Thanarattrakul turned over A J top pair, Tong crushed it with 8 7 flush. He now has around 220k. 


Phan Nam shows the ladies

From button position, Phan Nam three-bet Q Q, on the big blind Maruki Hidaka four-bet to 18k, original raiser Hung Dinh folded, and Nam made the call. At the flop 9 3 2, Hidaka c-bet 20k, Nam fidgeted then shoved, Hidaka folded while showing his A 4. Nam turned up his cards as well, and Dinh said he had pocket tens. Nam climbed to 160K.


Huy Nguyen survives Lind’s overcards

Catching the action as the chips were being shipped, looked like Hung Nguyen brought down Thomas Lind’s towers with a big double up to 175k. The board showed 9 7 8 2 7, Lind had A 10, Nguyen with 8 8 full house.


Phachara Wongwichit doubles up through Talamayan

Level: 12 Blinds: 600 - 1200 Ante: 1200

Thai / Aussie pro Phachara Wongwichit raised from mid-position to 2500, down the orbit, Day 1A chip leader on the small blind called and the flop ran K 10 2. Wongwichit c-bet 37k, Talamayan check-called. On the turn 6, Talamayan announced all in, Wongwichit quickly called and showed A A overpair. Talamayan had Q 8 draw that missed on the river J for a double up to the pro. Wongwichit up to 110K. Talamayan at 150K.

Main Event registration is closed! We now have the official tally. Another 42 entered in Day 2 for 378 total entries and a prize pool of VN₫ 5,499,900,000 (~US$ 240,570). While we await the payouts, we do know that 38 players will reach ITM and the top prize is VN₫ 1,220,590 (~US$ 53,390).

There are currently 144 players remaining. Day 2 runs a course of 9 levels of 60 minutes each. Good luck to all the players!


Cards in the air!

Level: 10 Blinds: 400-800 Ante: 800

The inaugural APT Vietnam Phu Quoc – MAIN EVENT – is underway! 138 players are back in action here at Corona Resort & Casino. It’s wall to wall with every table and seat owned. The first fifteen minutes has already resulted in numerous all ins and bust outs. Registration is open for the first hour, closing at 1:10pm. Prize pool and payouts will be posted once registration closes.

At this time, the pot is nearing VN₫ 5 Billion with 336 entries. Leading the race are Day 1 top dogs Truong Vu Tran Khanh – 173,500 (Day 1C) and Joseph Talamayan – 163,300 (Day 1A). The random seat draw put both players at Table 3 so we’ll be keeping a close watch throughout the day to see how they fare.

For players signing up, we have just been told that tables are at capacity and at this time we are accepting alternates. No fret as everyone that buys in before registration closes will be seated. Here are all the details.
