Day 2 closes with 47 players led by Hue Dang

After eight levels of play, Day 2 of the Main Event wrapped up with 47 players remaining. Vietnam’s Hue Dang bagged the chip lead with 648K. We will have the official count and recap shortly so stay tuned for it. Congratulations to the day’s survivors! Game resumes tomorrow at 12pm. They will play down to the Final 8.

Yuji Yamashita delivers double KO, rises to 420k

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000 - 4000 Ante: 4000

Two players shoved and Yuji Yamashita snap called with A A. One player had 5 5, the other A K, the board fired blanks and Yamashita scooped it up. Yamashita zoomed to 420k.


Florencio Campomanes spikes the boat against Ngo Minh Tien

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000 - 4000 Ante: 4000

Big hand went down at Table 4 between Florencio Campomanes and Ngo Minh Tien. From utg+1, Tien raised to 10k, acting next, Campomanes three-bet to 36k, action folded around back to Tien who four-bet to 90k. Campomanes called and the flop ran Q 10 J. Tien announced all in, Campomanes stood up and said “I cannot fold this” then called for his tournament life.

The turn J granted Campomanes the full house, and with the river 2, it was a massive double up. Campomanes soared to 425k, Tien dropped to 206k.


Hue Dang skyrockets to 580k

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000 - 4000 Ante: 4000

Hue Dang has just taken the lead with a massive pile won off Thomas Lind. Action saw button Lind raise to 7k, big blind Dang called. On the flop 2-2-4, Lind c-bet 10k, Dang check-raise to 35k, Lind called. The turn 9 saw no bets but the river 9 saw Dang lead out for 100k, Lind raised to 200k, Lind called and showed 2 6 trips. Lind mucked. She is now the new chip leader with over 580K.


Jules Blondel rails Vu Duc Trung

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500 - 3000 Ante: 3000

Vu Duc Trung gambled his remaining chips on J 4 but couldn’t get past Jules Blondel’s A K. Blondel now has 230k.


Pham Duy Tien dusts one, rises to 160K

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500 - 3000 Ante: 3000

Button player raised to 8k, sb Pham Duy Tien three-bet to 18k, button jammed and snap-called by Tien.

Phachara Wongwichit swings

Phachara Wongwichit scored two double ups off Chad Fullmer to bring his stack to roughly 120K. The first hand was just before the break with Wongwichit completing a straight on the river to best Fullmer’s top two pair. On the next clash, Wongwichit’s A A dominated Fullmer’s A K throughout. Despite the rise, Wongwichit’s next showdown led to a big chunk paid out to Nguyen Gia Lam whose A K spiked the king on the river to beat 10 10. Wongwichit dropped to 56k.
