APT Philippines Championships 2018 Main Event

Day 2 ends with 52 players remaining

Main Event Day 2 is over! What was once 158 runners (plus late entries) is now down to 52 players. There were many players vying for the ending day chip lead but in the end, it was Vietnam’s Nguyen Hoang Bach earning that status. He bagged up 434,000.

Holding strong in second position was a decorated APT Main Event champion, Gyeong Byeong Lee with 406,500. There were many notable players still in the running as well. We will have all that in our recap coming to you shortly so make sure to be on the lookout. For now, you can read the live updates for some of the day’s action.

The bubble has popped! Players are now in the money! Will T went all in with 9 9 and one of the chip leaders Lee Chin Yong called with Q Q. The board ran J 6 3 8 4.

Congratulations to all the players in the money!

SJ Kim wins the raise war

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 500

We are still at the bubble stage. A.M.V.D.Ende raised to 6k, Fu Bang Huang three-bet to 15.5k, SJ Kim four-bet to 43.5. Back to Ende, he folded. Huang tanked for a bit then folded as well.

Bubble time double ups

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 500

There are 56 players remaining which means we are at the bubble stage of the tournament. We are hand-for-hand. Three hands in and already two short stacks have doubled up.

Benedict Koh was all in and got called by chip leader Gyeong Byeong Lee. Koh had 6 6 and Lee with J 10. The board ran J K 4 9 7 for a winning flush to Koh.

The other player happy to get paid then go broke was Eric Wasylenko. He was all in on a flop K A Q with Will T iniitally betting out 10k. Will called and showed his top pair K 3 but Wasylenko was ahead with K Q. The turn 9 and river 5 completed the board.

In Sin eliminated; Bubble stage reached

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 500

With 57 players left, that means we are two spots to the money and just one to the bubble. Action has been pretty quick here with short stacks not afraid to get it in. One of them was Korea’s In Chul Sin, a decorated APT Main Event champion. Sin was all in with his ailing 39k stack and got called by two players, Nguyen Duy Tang and Ha Duong, another decorated APT champion.

The board ran out A 5 3 4 6 with no bets for a side pot.

Duong J-J
Nguyen 10-10
Sin K-J

Duong took it down and Sin out of the running. That means we have now reached the bubble stage of the tournament.

Victor Chong claims a sizable pot

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 500

In a three-way raised pot preflop and flop K 5 9, Eugene Co, Victor Chong, and Hoang Nguyen Bach checked to the turn 5. Chong bet 9k, Hoang folded, while Co check-called. On the 7 river, Co checked again, Chong bet 58k, and got the call from Co. Chong showed 10 5 for a winning trips.

Gyeong Byeong Lee denies Tommy Lee

Level: 15 Blinds: 1200-2400 Ante: 400

On a full board 6 A 2 4 4, Tommy Lee pushed it all in against Gyeong Byeong Lee. Before a full count was done, Lee called and Tommy turned over his 9 7 bluff. Gyeong had A 2 to send Tommy out on a failed bluff.

Gyeong leads with over 400k.

Joven Huerto out

Level: 15 Blinds: 1200-2400 Ante: 400

Another APT decorated champion has fallen. Joven Huerto was railed just 5 spots away from the money. His A-10 failed to improve against a player’s A-K. We are down to 59 players.
