APT Philippines Championships 2018 Main Event

Patrick Liang vs Lester Edoc

Level: 14 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

We haven’t reported any news on these two players but they both have a very healthy stack in front of them. Now tabled together, both players engaged in two hands with the second just a bit more exciting.

Let’s start with the first, on a turn board 4 A 6 7, Edoc had all his chips pushed past the betting line and Liang opted to fold. Liang was heard saying that if it were a cash game, he wouldn’t have easily called.

The next encounter happened several hands later. Liang had 9 8 and Edoc with 9 8 with the board already showing 7 J 10 10 K. We aren’t sure when the shoves happened, flop or turn, but nonetheless it ended in a split pot.

Gerard Bringley drops lower, doubles up Shon Yamashita

Short stacks Gerard Bringley and Shon Yamashita went to tango with Bringley holding A K and Yamashita with 10 10. The board ran 2 4 8 Q 5 and with no hits for Bringley, he paid up. Bringley down to 20k (10bbs) and Yamashita up to around 50k.

Hieu Trung Le gets full pay for his straight; Wasylenko plummets

Level: 13 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

On a complete board 4 K 2 7 3, we caught the action as Wasylenko sent out 14.5k only to see Hieu Trung Le jam it all for an additional 25K+. Wasylenko called and mucked his hand after seeing Hieu’s A 5 straight. Hieu up to 90k while Wasylenko dropped to 25k.

Kicker does it for SJ Kim

Level: 13 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Tetsuya Tsuchikawa who is tabled with SJ Kim joked around that Kim is sitting in a lucky seat. Apparently, the river has been very friendly to Kim. For this recent pot thouugh, it wasn’t the case.

We caught the action on a board showing K 6 10 6. Gilbert Goh checked, Kim bet 9k, and Goh called. On the river 2, Goh checked again, Kim bet 17.7k, and after a few minutes in the tank, Goh called. Kim turned over Q K and Goh showed his K J. This wouldn’t be chopped evenly with Kim’s kicker in play.

APT champs battle: Ha Duong vs Gyeong Byeong Lee

Level: 13 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Two decorated APT champions went head-to-head in this hand. Ha Duong raised to 3600 from the utg seat; to his immediate left, Gyeong Byeong Lee three-bet to 9500. Everyone folded around the table back to Duong who called.

At the flop Q 10 8, no betting action came and the dealer felted 5 on the turn. Duong checked, Lee slid out 10k, and Duong called. On the 5 river, Duong checked again, Lee bet a chunkier 40k sending Duong deep into the tank. The clock was eventually called on Duong and he opted to fold.

Nguyen Hoang Bach zooms up the ranks, Kyle Lim drops

Level: 13 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

After having eliminated Kosei Ichinose, Nguyen Hoang Bach found himself the happy receiver again of a pot but this time it was much much bigger than the one from the Japanese pro. Action began with Kyle Lim raising to 4800. Everyone folded to the big blind Hoang who three-bet to 16k. Lim flat-called.

On the 2 4 3 flop, Hoang jumped out with a 25k bet, Lim raised to 65k, Hoang called, and the turn dropped 8. Hoang checked, Lim wasted no time counting out chips and moved all in. Hoang snap called.

The river 8 completed the board and Hoang took down the cooler. Lim fell to 37k while Hoang soared to aroudn 345k. He is now up in the ranks with SJ Kim.

SJ climbs to 300K

Level: 12 Blinds: 600-1200 Ante: 200

SJ Kim may be the current race leader here with 100 players remaining. He just eliminated a player and collected a nice pile to add to his already massive artillery. Here’s how it went down…

On a raised pot preflop the cards landed A 9 5. Michael Falcon checked, Kim bet 3500, Jimm Yar Gin Wee called and Falcon followed right behind. On the turn 10, Falcon led for 5k and was called by both Kim and Jimm. On the river 8, Falcon continued with a 16k bet, Kim raised to 38.9k essentially putting Jimm all in. After a few minutes, Jimm called for his tournament life and Falcon folded.

Kim opened up Q 9 flush. Jimm walked out and Kim amassed nearly 300K.

Flo Campomanes knocks ’em out

Level: 12 Blinds: 600-1200 Ante: 200

Flo Campomanes has just climbed to around 150k or more after knocking out two players simultaneously. The hand began with short stacked Junqiang Lyu all in followed by Huu Dung Nguyen also all in with his short stack. Huy Pham called, but when action landed on the sb player Campomanes, he bumped it up an extra 19.5k for Pham to call. It took a couple of minutes for Pham to decide and he opted to fold while showing his A Q.

When the flop ran 10 7 6, Pham shrieked in disbelief with his nut flush had he continued. The turn A and 10 river completed the board and Camponanes scooped it all up.
