Lester Edoc wins the Main Event!!

Filipino pro Lester Edoc has just captured his first-ever APT Main Event title! He defeated Japan’s Hiroyuki Yoshimura in a swinging heads up battle. Here’s the final hand:

Congratulations to Lester Edoc!! He wins the Php2,674,900 first place purse and the APT Championship Ring!
For runner-up, Yoshimura will take home Php1,782,700.

Hiroyuki Yoshimura is already the shorter stack and dropped lower to just 5bbs. It happened as soon as they returned from the break. Both players were in on a limped pot, the flop came 7 6 4 and both checked. On the 7 turn, Yoshimura bet 250k and Edoc called. On the Q river, Yoshimura checked, Edoc bet 1M, and Yoshimura called.

Edoc had 9 6 for two pair and the pot as Yoshimura mucked.

Hiroyuki Yoshimura continues to battle his way back up. He won another sizable pot to bring him up to 2.55M. He kicked it off with a limp then called Lester Edoc’s 360k raise. At the flop A K 4, Edoc led for 300k, Yoshimura shoved, and the quick fold from Edoc won Yoshimura the pot.

Hiroyuki Yoshimura picked up a decent sized pot to bring him up to 1.8M. He raised to 360k on the button and Edoc called. On the flop 5 2 7 and turn 7, both checked, and the river fell 10. Yoshimura checked, Edoc bet 325k, and Yoshimura matched it up.

After a series of exchanges that saw Lester Edoc once again win a majority of the battles, an all in hand arrived. It began though with a limp by Edoc. The flop ran 8 5 2, Hiroyuki Yoshimura checked, Edoc bet 175k, Yoshimura check-raised to 500k, and Edoc with the flat-call. On the 9 turn, Yoshimura downsized to a 250k bet only to see a 1.5M raise from Edoc. Yoshimura moved all in and Edoc called.

The river 2 didn’t improve Yoshimura and Edoc scored a huge double up. He now has 6.9M while Yoshimura fell to 1.2M.

On a limped pot preflop, the flop came K Q 10. Lester Edoc checked, Hiroyuki Yoshimura bet 350k, and Edoc called. On the 3 turn, Yoshimura fired out 500k, and Edoc check-called. On the river J, Yoshimura slowed down and opted to check it. Edoc had J 3 pair that wasn’t good enough against Yoshimura’s Q 10 two pair.
