Day 2 ends with Marc Rivera leading

That’s it! Day 2 is in the books! From what started as 223 players from the starting days plus the added late reg players, after 8 hours of competition, 70 players remained. From our scan of the tables, Marc Rivera sealed the largest stack of 438k. Ivan Tabucal closed in second rank with 414k. These were the only two players to finish in the 400k range.

The money wasn’t reached today. 51 players stand to earn a piece of the pot tomorrow. Prize pool is an enormous P24,395,500. We will have a brief recap for you shortly along with the chip counts.


Tatsuya Hiroshi spikes the set to dust kings

Tatsuya Hiroshi sent a player to the rail when his pocket jacks spiked a set on the board to deny a player’s kings the double up. Hiroshi up to 230k.


Samad Razavi doubles up to 210k

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 3000

On a flop 8 2 3 and a raised pot to 55k, Razavi shoved his 82k stack and was called. Razavi 9 9 overpair held against the caller’s 7 8 top pair after the board completed to 2 turn and 4 river. Razavi up to 210k.


Vamerdino Magsakay claims a big one, reaches 370k

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 3000

We have another player packing in a large one. Vamerdino Magsakay won the bout against Su Tian Hung. Catching the action on the river betting, the board was Q 7 9 K 9. Hung checked, Magsakay bet 110k, Hung tank-folded. Magasakay showed 3 3 and rose to 370k.


Ivan Tabucal rails one

On a board 4 2 5, a player bet 13.5k, Ivan Tabucal shoved to put the player at risk. Player called and showed 6 8 draw. Tabucal was also drawing A 9. The turn 10 and river 4 gave Tabucal the win and shipped it. He is at 370k.


Jae Kyung Joe joins the leaders

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 3000

Jae Kyung Joe is making a bid for the chip leader status here in the last level of the day. He raised to 21k preflop, got three-bet shoved by a player to 89.4k, Joe tanked then called. Joe Q Q, all in player A K, the board ran low for queens to stand strong. Joe rose to 350k while sending one out in the process.


Marvin Rettenmaier ships one, climbs to 400k

German pro Marvin Rettenmaier is now one of the chip leaders having eliminated Masaki Fujitani with the nut flush versus the second nuts. According to Fujitani, action began with an mp player raising to 5800 preflop, called by Fujitani on the button and bb Rettenmaier. On the flop 9 4 5, Rettenmaier checked, mp player bet, called by Fujitani and Rettenamier. On the turn 8, Rettenmaier checked again, mp bet, Fujitani jammed, Rettenmaier joined, mp folded.

The river 10 gave Rettenmaier the nut flush to eliminate Fujitani. Rettenmaier shipped it to climb to 400k.
