APT Philippines 2014 Main Event

Tolon’s Big Slick Fails

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Jay Tolon of the Philippines had the big slick and was all-in against Greg Lane from the United Kingdom.

Lane had ace-nine against Tolon’s big slick and the latter was feeling good about his chances when the flop with an ace came.

A nine appeared on the turn however and the river couldn’t save Tolon and we’re down to 34 players for Day 3.

We counted 5 Filipinos to start the day and it’s now down to 4 for the host country of this APT stop.

More Shoves…

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Noda Hiruyuki of Japan bet 8,o00 to open the actoin preflop. Jia Jie Liang (China) shoved his stack of 62,000 and got the Japanese opponent to fold.

The Chinese would do the same in the next two of four hands to chip up to around 95,000.

Up and Down for Cho

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Over at Korean Jaeik Cho’s table, we saw him re-raise it to 19,000 only to see Henrick Tollefsen move over the top for his final 100,000 or so.

Cho considered his options but eventually folded his hand giving the pot to Tollefsen who climbs to over 140,000 in chips.

The very next hand, Greg Lane from the middle position opened to 8,000.

Cho decided it was his time to move over the top and shoved his 76,000 or so stack.

Lane folded and Cho gets some back he lost in the earlier hand.

Bordallo making early moves

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Chip leader Annie Bordallo reraised Brian Sombero’s min raise from 8000 to 27000 preflop and after counting his chips Sombero opted to fight another day and folded.

Tsuchikawa doubles up through Santos

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

After many preflop shoves heard in the room, we finally heard a call. It was Tetsuya Tsuchikawa who was all in and Inaki Santos quick-called. Tsuchikawa had A Q and Santos had A K. Though behind and possibly facing elimination, the board landed Q 7 2 6 J connecting him with a pair. With that, Tsuchikawa doubled up to 150K.

Shove… shove…. shove

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Lots of shoves early with short stacks hoping for a quick double up but as it seems, there are hardly any takers.. Anthony Gabitan made his move but no callers. Mike Fawaz got Pham Huy tanking after he reraised all in with over 56K, but Pham opted to fold. Jim Bonanno shoved twice and only took the blinds and antes. Bryan Huang also moved in twice with no one going in the round with him.
