A player from under the gun opened for 325 preflop and got three callers including Johnson Tan from the small blind.
Flop Q♥ 4♥ Q♦
The same UTG player fired another 500 forcing the fold from all players except Tan.
Both players checked the turn 9♣ and river 6♣. Tan tabled A♣ 9♦ and it was good as the UTG player mucked her hand.
Tan has around 18,500 in chips.
Dhanesh Chainani and Do Hoang Anh are APT regulars and also constant winners in APT side events.
The Singaporean and Vietnamese went at it on a board of Q♣ 4♠ Q♠ J♣ with Chainani firing what would be the last bet (2,000) as Anh considered his options but eventually decided to throw away his hand.
APT Jeju Champion Ryan Yu is quite active at the table. We caught him reraising from the hijack seat to 800 which was called by the utg+1 player and the intial raiser at the lojack seat. At the flop of Q♠ 4♦ Q♣ everyone checked, but at the turn of 8♣, action was checked to Yu who sent out 1000. The utg+1 player called while the lojack folded. Then on the river of 8♥, action was checked to Yu again who slid out 1600 which was good enough to take the pot with a fold from his opponent.
Jay Tolon bet 300 pre-flop from the button. The small blind player wanted more and re-popped to 1,025. Tolod called to bring the flop A♠ 8♣ 2♦, which both players checked.
On the turn Q♦, Tolon fired another 1,400 and again the SB player called. The river 2♠ was another opportunity for Tolon to add more and he did with 3,300 this time… SB player tanked for a good 3 minutes before making the call.
Apparently, he did not believe Tolon had it as the Filipino showed A♣ 10♦ for top pair and the SB player mucked his hand. Tolon has over 23,000 at this point.
We had 90 for Day 1A so it’s a given that the second day of the main event will draw more players. With entry and re-entry allowed until end of Level 6, it appears we’ll crack the century mark easily today.
Star Craft pro Lim Yo-Hwan landed himself a sweet hand that got players wowing at the table. On a raised pot preflop, three players saw a board run 2♠ 2♣ 6♠, action was checked to the cutoff player who sent out 300 and was called by both the bb and the hijack player Yo-Hwan. At the turn of A♦, the bb decided to lead out and banged out 500 which was quickly called by Yo-Hwan but inducing a fold in the cutoff. Then at the river of Q♠, the bb checked, Yo-Hwan bet 3000, and bb snap-called. The bb showed his J♠ 5♠ flush but was stunned to see Yo-Hwan’s 2♥ 2♦ for quads.
On a raised pot with the board of 8♣ A♥ 10♣ 8♥ 9♥, Jay Tolon, the original preflop raiser, bet 1,000 facing two other Filipinos still in the hand. John Tech made the call as well as Brian Sombero a.k.a. Brisom.
Tolon meekly mucked his hand and John Tech showed A♠ 9♠ for two pairs. However, Sombero had 6♣ 7♣ for the straight.
Thanks to the river, this small pot belongs to Brisom.
Wally Sombero is always a tough man to beat at the tables. In a recent hand, he raised from mid position to 300, got reraised to 800 by the button player, which he replied with another chip on top to make it 1800 to go. The button player called and it was off to the flop of 10♦ 10♠ 5♦, Sombero led out 2000 and was called by the db. At the turn of 3♣, they checked. Then on the river of K♠, they continued to check and Sombero won the hand with his A♦ K♦.
