Michael Marvanek opened to 23,000 but Ziyang Zhao (China) beside him raised to 60,000 only for both to see Feng Zhao (Singapore) move all in for about 400,000.
Marvanek quickly folded his hand but the Chinese was willing to go to war with his pocket jacks and made the call! It was a good decision at that point too as the Singaporean showed the big slick for the HUGE POT showdown.
The flop K♦ 4♦ 10♠ tilted the favor to Feng. Ziyang had his outs but no jack came on the turn 2♥ and the river 9♦ and the Chinese is ousted of the main event.
Feng Zhao has nearly 900,000 in chips at this point, the first player to reach that mark.
Last lady at the felt Jin Young Choi raised it up to 25000 preflop but got reraised by Mikal Blomlie to make it 58000 to go. Choi tanked then eventually called to see a flop of 9♦ 5♥ K♠. Acting first, Blomlie led for 53000 sending Choi to the tank again. After a while she moved all in and Blomlie made the quick call. Blomlie had K♥ J♦ for top pair ahead of Choi’s A♥ 9♥ mid pair. The turn of 2♦ and river of 8♠ were no help to Choi who ended her run at 13th place.
Action packed hand with three players ballooning the pot preflop. Action began with Bryan Huang on the cutoff seat raising to 20000, then SJ Kim shoved his remaining 107000 followed by Feng Zhao with his push of 138000 and Huang making the call with his big stack.
Zhao: K♦ K♠
Kim: A♥ Q♦
Huang: K♣ Q♥
With the board running 7♠ A♠ 4♣ K♥ 4♥, Zhao was shipped the mountain of chips as Kim took his leave of the Main Event. Kim leaves in 14th place earning $7800.
Annie Bordallo of Guam had an excellent main event run but it’s over now.
Lebanese Mike Fawaz opened to 23,000 preflop and saw Hyun Thae Hweng make the call and Bordallo move over the top with her final 30,000.
Fawaz and Hweng made the call for a three-headed action.
Flop: 4♥ 2♠ 5♥
Fawaz added 35,000 and Hweng made the call.
Turn: J♥
Fawaz bet a smaller 25,000 and again Hweng called.
River 6♥
Fawaz stepped on the brakes this time and the Korean obliged with a check as well.
Bordallo: K♦ J♠
Fawaz: 10♥ 10♠
Hweng: mucked
After action folded around the table to the blinds, Jin Young Choi quickly went all in sending big blind Feng Zhao into the think tank. Zhao eventually called and here’s how it went:
Jin: A♠ 8♠
Zhao: A♥ 5♥
Board: J♣ 8♦ 7♥ Q♠ 2♥
Jin won the hand and got a sweet double up to around 240K.
Jerry Lai saw his last hand of the Main Event when he faced Bryan Huang who just previously went all in twice without a call. Lai was in a world of hurt when his 4♥ 4♠ was sorely behind Huang’s 9♣ 9♥. Lai did not improve on the board and he bowed out in 16th place.
Annie Bordallo just got chunked down badly in a hand against Hyun Thae Hweng. During the hand, Bordallo raised to 28000 and got reraised to 56000 by Hweng which Bordallo called. At the flop of K♠ 10♠ 3♠, Bordallo checked to Hweng who bet 50000 and after tanking, Bordallo moved all in. Hweng snap-called and their cards were revealed. Bordallo had A♠ J♣ for a nut flush draw and Hweng with A♣ K♥ for top pair. With the turn of J♥ and river of 4♦, Bordallo lost the hand and crippled down to 16000 while Hweng escalated to just under 400K.
Finally somebody caught Ziyang Zhao bluffing.
Bryan Huang (Singapore) opened to 20,000 preflop and had a caller in Zhao at the button.
Flop: J♠ K♠ 8♣
Huang led out for 19,000 and Zhao called.
Both checked the turn Q♠ and on the river 3♠ it was Zhao who led out for 35,000.
Huang asked the dealer to scatter the pot a bit please and decided to make the call.
Huang: 6♠ 6♣
Zhao: A♥ 8♥
Good call for Huang who climbed to roughly 360,000 after the hand.
Canada’s Roger Hardy had around 25,000 left so when he woke up to the big chick he decided it was a good hand to shove. Unfortunately for him, JJ Liang (China) had pocket queens.
No ace o the board of K♥ 3♦ 7♥ 10♦ 6♣ and Hardy is out of the main event at 17th place for $6,600.
