At one of the outer tables, SJ Kim initiated a bit of action at his table by leading out with a 1100 bet. After everyone folded around to the button player, he raised it up to make it 2550 total. Kim called. On the flop of 6♦ A♣ J♠, both players checked. At the turn of 8♣, they checked again. Then on the river of 3♥, they did the same… checked. Kim won the hand with his 7♠ 8♠ mid-pair.

Sim Jae Kyung aka Simba was a happy camper with his recent double up. With the board showing 2♣ A♣ 2♦ 7♠,and a nice pile of chips in the middle up for grabs, Simba moved all in with his remaining 16125 and was called by a player across the felt. Simba was ahead with A♦ J♥ versus his opponent’s A♥ 8♥, and with the river of 5♦, Simba scooped up his winnings.
Kwak Jin Hyeom shoved his stack worth well over 20,000 on a board of 10♣ K♣ 9♣ 7♦ prompting a quick fold from Michael Falcon.
A fearless move for the Korean considering Falcon is one of the chip leaders not only in their table but the entire Day 1B field.
Armed with round glasses without a lens, we saw Florencio Campomanes value bet around 5,000 or so on the river on a board which featured an ace, deuce, three and four.
Norbert Koh was his heads-up opponent in this one and the Singaporean thought for a bit before making the call. Campomanes showed 5? 7? for what was indeed a straight and he wins the nice pot.
Norbert Koh went all in with an additional 15425 chips on top of Rehg de los Reyes’s initial 1200 raise and Reyes made the call. At the showdown, Koh was ahead with his 9♠ 9♦ pair against Reyes’s A♦ K♣ overcards. With the board running 5♣ 3♥ J♦ J♥ 6♣, Reyes missed her outs and Koh avoided elimination. Koh has doubled up to around 35K.
Working on a short stack after getting his kings cracked via a bad beat earlier in the day, Sam Razavi just couldn’t get anything going for him in this Main Event. The two-time APT Player of the Year and contending for a third consecutive APT POY, has another premium hand cracked– this time, the aces and it cost him his tournament life.
Pre-flop, we saw Razavi’s stack– just around 7,000– to the middle and had two callers from late position. Acting next, Michael Falcon announced he wants to isolate Razavi adding 4,500 more. He got the isolation he wanted after both players folded and we have a Falcon vs. Razavi showdown.
Falcon: A♣ J♠
Razavi: A♦ A♠
Razavi was of course, way ahead at this point. Not for long however; dealer tabled the flop: 7♦ 7♠ J♦ and literally everyone on the table felt that a bad beat was coming. It didn’t on the turn 8♠ but it did come on the river J♣ to boot out a frustrated Razavi.
Falcon climbs to over 100,000 in chips after the hand.
