Kim Kyoung Min called a lady at his table’s all in shove and at the showdown, she showed Q♥ Q♠ sorely behind Min’s A♣ A♠. The board ran blanks for the ladies and just like that Min collected her chips.
Catching the action between Ian Brion and Bryan Huang only at the turn of 6♥ A♥ 10♣ 8♦, Huang bet 1800 and was called by Brion. on the river of 7♣, both players checked. Brion showed K♣ J♠ and saw that what he needed was one of what Huang held Q♦ Q♠. Huang won the hand.
Gavin Smith seems to be the current chip leader at the moment with well over 150K chips. In a recent hand, he raised from the cutoff seat to 1600 and was limp-called by a player in the hijack position. At the flop of J♣ 3♠ 7♦, action was checked to Smith who bet 4600, and just like that he took down another pot.
Seung Soo Jeon started off the hand with a raise to 1800 which found two callers, John Jay Magadan and Tomochika Kamiya. At the flop of A♠ 6♠ J♦, Jeon led for 3000 and as before, both Magadan and Kamiya stayed by his side and called. At the turn of 7♠, Jeon checked and so did Magadan and Kamiya. But when the river landed an 8♣, action differed with Jeon and Magadan checking while Kamiya bet 4000. Jeon called the bet and mucked to Kamiya who showed A♥ 8♥ for two pairs.
On a full board of J♣ 7♣ 4♦ 5♥ 2♥, Mike Takayama shoved and was snap-called by an opponent who had 4♣ 4♠ set. Luckily for Takayama, he had A♣ 3♠ for a dominating straight. Takayama doubled up to around 65K.
Mike Larsen shoved his remaining 7,775 and was snap called by Kiyoshi Fukuda. Larsen had A♦ 8♠ against Fukuda’s 8♥ 8♦. The board ran blanks for Larsen and he was eliminated from the tournament.
Takatoshi Fukuda and the mid position player at his table began the hand with the mp player raising to 1800. Fukuda on the button pumped it up to make it 4200 and the mp player called. At the flop of A♦ 6♦ J♣, the mp player bet 7000 and Fukuda flat-called. At the turn of K♠, mp bet 7000 again but this time Fukuda responded with a raise to 20K. Action was now back to the mp player who challenged back with an all in, only to see Fukuda make the quick call.
MP: A♥ 6♥ top two pairs
Fukuda: A♠ A♣ trips
Clearly his pot, Fukuda further improved to a full house when a K♠ landed on the river. Fukuda now has over 100K in chips.
When big pairs tangle, there are surely big casualties that follow. In this hand, action began with the mid position player raising it to 1500 which Edwin Marzan called in late position. After him, the button player, Alex Lee three-bet and made it 5000 to go. The mp called but unlike previous, Marzan shoved his entire arsenal of 40K. Without a thought, he was snap-called by Alex Lee with around 30K behind. The mp player decided it was bet to fold. At the showdown,
Marzan: K♣ K♥
Lee: A♥ A♦
When the board landed 10♠ 9♠ 5♦, the mp player who folded exclaimed he had Pocket Nines and would have had a set. After the turn of 7♥ and river of 4♦ were revealed, Lee doubled up and more. He is now at around 70K while Marzan spiraled down to starting stack.
Unfortunately we only caught the hand on the river with a board showing 5♥ 8♣ 2♠ J♦ 10♠. Dennis Huntly was up against Ian Brion. Huntly bet 7500, Brion flat-called. Huntly showed his 8♠ 8♥ for a set. Brion mucked.
