Feng Zhao opened to 65,000 preflop but saw Hyeong Wook Choi raise all-in worth around 440,000.
With a huge stack and lead over the other three players, it took just seconds before Zhao made the decision to call.
Singapore vs. Korea showdon with HC Choi’s tournament life at stake:
Choi: Q♣ J♠
Zhao: A♥ J♣
Choi is in major trouble and needs a lady to extend his stay in this main event. Flop K♠ 5♦ 8♦ was of no help and the turn 8♦ and river 2♥ was of no consequence.
Zhao climbs to over 2.5M in chips at this point with 3 players left and Choi leaves at 4th place for over 35 thousand dollars– not bad for a player who entered the final table as one of the shorter stacks…
First it’s J.J. Liang from SB stealing Feng Zhao’s big blind. And the Zhao, from the button, stole both small and big blinds. This is a regular scene with four players to go in the main event.
Light action happening at the final table with both short stacks, Hyeong Wook and Liang shoving their chips without getting a call. Then a small pot won by Feng Zhao in a hand against Inaki Santos. Zhao raised to 65K preflop and was called by Santos. At the flop of 6♦ 9♦ K♦ both players checked. At the turn of 2♥ Zhao led out for 75K and was called by Santos. With the river of 10♠, both players checked and Zhao won with his A♣ 9♥.
Feng Zhao 1,970,000
Inaki Santos 1,370,000
Jia Jie Liang 430,000
Hyeong Wook Choi 375,000
Mike Fawaz had the chip lead but was short-lived when he slammed into Feng Zhao’s bullets against his jacks. With his final 300K+ chips, he called Inaki Santos reraise all in only to find himself behind. Santos had A♠ K♣ and Fawaz had A♣ J♣. The board ran 8♥ A♥ 7♦ K♠ 3♥ giving Santos the win as Fawaz had to settle for 5th place. He earns $28,800 for his finish.
From under the gun, JJ Liang bet 50,000 to open the betting preflop. He saw a call from Feng Zhao from the cutoff but a raise to 295,000 from Mike Fawaz from the button.
Liang folded his hand while Zhao moved over the top for a shove worth 931,000!
Fawaz thought for a bit but quickly called.
Fawaz: J♠ J♥
Liang: A♦ A♣
Fawaz must be kicking himself with the decision as the board 5♠ 6♥ 9♣ 10♦ 8♣ and he lost the big pot. The Lebanese dropped to just around 500,000 while Zhao is back on top with nearly 2 million in chips.
Mike Fawaz got himself more chips to become the new chip leader when he went up against Inaki Santos. Fawaz raised preflop to 60000 but was repopped to 150000 by Santos. Fawaz flat-called. At the flop of J♠ A♦ J♣, both players silently checked, but at the turn of 5♣, Fawaz led out for 200000 and Santos surrendered the pot. Fawaz is now at 1.3M and is the new chip leader.
In an action packed preflop, Jia Jie Liang raised to 50000 only to get repopped to 121000 by chip leader Feng Zhao, but acting next was Mike Fawaz who moved all in for exactly 500K. Liang took no time to decide and folded but Zhao tanked for a bit then called. Fawaz had K♥ K♦ way ahead of Zhao’s K♠ Q♣. With the board running 6♦ 3♠ 2♣ J♣ Q♠, Fawaz doubled up to over 1M chips.
Inaki Santos has just hit exactly 1M in a hand against the chip leader Feng Zhao. During the hand Santos raised to 50000 and was called by Zhao on the big blind. At the flop of A♦ 7♥ 8♦, Zhao check-called Santos bet of 70000. At the turn of 10♦, Santos continued to bet and fired out 170000 which Zhao called. Then on the river of K♣, Santos decided to just check behind Zhao and won the pot with his A♠ 7♠ two pairs against Zhao’s A♥ J♥ top pair.
