With three players calling Slade Fisher’s 1300 raise preflop, they all saw a board land Q♠ 6♦ 5♥. Everyone checked to see a free turn of 8♠. From mid position, Jian Jie Liang bet 2300, got a fold in db Romain Dours, but an all in from Czar Ian Marcos with 4275. After Fisher folded, Liang called and at the show Liang had A♠ Q♦ for top pair and Marcos had 10♠ 9♠ for double belly and a flush draw. With the river of 8♣, Marcos missed his draws and Liang scooped the chips thus ending Marcos’s day.
116 runners started play in Day 2 and we’re down to 103 near the end of Level 9.
Before Choong Kon Kim would get his double up, he first tangled in a raise war against Katsuhiro Muto. It began with Kim raising to 1500 from mid position, Muto on the db raised it up to 3500, Kim answered with another bump up to 9500 forcing Muto to make the all in move. Kim snap-called and it was not a good sight for Muto’s A♥ K♦ against Kim’s A♦ A♣. The board ran blanks and Kim doubled up whilie Muto spiraled down to 6000.
Greg Lane just caught a bluff of Bulat Mubarakzyanov across the table.
On a board of 9♦ 4♣ 2♠ 7♦, Lane bet 4,300 in an already very healthy pot. Mubarakzyanov re-popped to 17,000 total to put Lane deep into the tank.
Lane did call to bring the river 8♥.
The Russian then shoved his stack which covered Lane’s… A few seconds later, Lane made the call.
Apparently a good one as the Mubarakzyanov tabled 6♣ 7♣ for a mid-pair… Lane had pocket tens to climb to over 75,000 after this hand.
On a board showing 7♥ 7♠ 8♦ Q♠ 10♠ and a hefty chunk of chips in the middle, Rivera made a river bet of 4200 and Chul Woo Jung called. Jung won with his K♦ 7♦ trips over Rivera’s K♣ Q♥ top pair.
Mikal Blomlie entered Day 2 looking for his chance to increase his short stack and found it during a wild preflop raise war that ended well for him. During the hand chip leader Do Hoang Anh raised it up to 1400, got called by the cutoff man, then reraised to 11475 all in by db Blomlie. Before action moved back to Anh, the sb player began to tank until he finally folded, Anh did the same, but the cutoff called. Blomlie had A♦ K♣ and his opponent had K♥ J♦. The board ran 3♦ A♥ 10♣ 9♠ 8♦ giving Blomlie a nice double up.
On the next hand, action checked to Blomlie on the cutoff seat and he raised it up to 1300. Button player Steve Yea reraised it up to 3000 but that did not bother Blomlie who repopped it to 17000. Yea quickly folded.
Victorino Torres, this stop’s High Rollers Champion has just outplayed Richard Marquez, one of the chip leaders entering Day 2.
On a flop of 9♣ 2♦ 3♦ in a raised pot, Marquez opened for 2,300 only to see Torres re-pop to 6,100.
Marquez considered his options, even asked how much Torres had behind but eventually folded his hand.
SJ Kim opened the action with a min-raise to 1,200 and saw three callers including Linh Duong, Annie Bordallo and Henrick Tollefsen.
Flop: 9♣ 6♠ J♠
Kim checked his option and Duong put a bet of 2,600 prompting a fold from Bordallo but calls from Tollefsen and Kim.
Turn: J♦
Kim checked again and Duong put another 3,100… Enough to discourage both Kim and Tollefsen to stay in the pot.
Tournament director Lloyd Fontillas has just restarted this main event with the classic “Shuffle up and deal!”
