On a board of 6♠ K♥ 10♥ 4♣ 9♦, Brian Sombero bet 40,000 on the river and was up against Malaysia’s Jerry Lai, the chip leader in the table.
Lai tanked a bit, asked Sombero how much he had behind (around 70,000) and then got the orange chips (5,000) to make the call.

Lai has now over 250,000 in chips among the chip leaders with 44 players left.
We are at a dinner break and by the looks of it Mikal Blomlie is the overwhelming chip leader with around 365K chips. There are 44 players left in the field.
In a four-way preflop action, Mikal Blomlie raised it up to 4500 and Ziyang Zhao, John Tech, and Peter Kleudgen called to see a board land 8♠ 2♣ K♦. Action checked to Blomlie who bet 11000 and was called by both Zhao and Tech. On the turn of A♣, Tech changed gears and led out for 18000 which Blomlie called while pushing out Zhao. Then on the river of 10♥, Tech took another stab, this time for 33000 and Blomlie responded by sliding out a tower of orange chips. Tech quickly folded.
Preflop action began with a raise war between Choi Hyeong Wook and Brian Sombero which ended with Sombero raising to 15700 and Hyeong Wook calling. At the flop of 2♠ J♠ 3♠, both players checked to see a turn of 5♣. Hyeong Wook then led out for 16600 and with that he claimed the pot when Sombero folded.
Brian Sombero and Anvar Muratov tangled in a pot that seemed too big to give up. With already over 40000 in the pot, Sombero bet 20000 on a board of 7♠ J♠ 9♣ A♠. After much tanking, Muratov called, thus increasing the pot even more. Then on the river of K♥, Sombero continued to pressure Muratov and sent out another 20000. Muratov tanked, then reluctantly folded giving Sombero the win.
MIkal Blomlie is on a mission to keep his towers growing and as fast as possible. In this hand, Blomlie raised it up to make it 4100 to play and Andrew Gaw from the big blind shoved it all in. Without a scare, Blomlie matched him and a showdown ensued. Gaw had A♦ J♠ and Blomlie with A♠ Q♥. Each got a piece at the flop of Q♦ 3♦ J♦ with Blomlie still ahead, and with the next two cards 5♣ and 5♥ respectively, Gaw bowed out of the tournament.
Udaysinh Patil of India started the day as one of the shorter stacked players with just 24,725 in chips. Five levels or so later, he’s still alive and kicking with an improved 33,000 or so.
The latest one he survived after a split pot in a big slick versus big slick affair.
His opponent had A♣ K♥ and the board of J♣ J♥ 7♥ 3♥ to prove some nerve-wracking drama for Patil but the 3♠ brought a rather happy ending for him.
We missed the betting action before the river but we did catch Jerry Lai and Annie Bordallo in an intense moment with Lai betting 20K into a massive pot and a board showing 5♠ K♣ J♣ J♦ K♥. Bordallo gave it some thinking but opted to play another day as Lai seized a very big pot.
