At this stage of the tournament, 10 places away from the money, the players are expectedly more conservative with their play.
Kicking of the last level of the day, Jerry Lai raised it up to 8000 from the cutoff seat and was stunned when the button seat SJ Kim popped it up to make it 19500 to go. Lai decided to give it up and fight another hand.
Henrick Tollefsen bet 6,000 preflop and Yoichi Fujiya apparently did not notice the bet before him that he said, “raise 7,000”– his intent was to be the initial raiser.
After the dealer called TD Fontillas, it was cleared up that as per the rules, Fujiya should re-raise and add another 7,000 making it 13,000 total. Action folded back to Tollefsen, who was just uncomfortable with the whole situation and folded his hand.
Atoning for the “mistake”, Fujiya was willing to show Tollefsen and everybody his hand: A♣ A♦

Holger Saupe and Adam Monaghan danced around preflop raises until both had all their chips pushed to the middle. Monaghan had A♦ K♦ and Saupe had J♥ J♠ for a coin flip. The board however would not grant Monaghan any breaks as it ran 9♠ 9♦ 2♣ 9♥ 8♣ and with that, Saupe ended Monaghan’s tournament life.
Henrik Tollefsen moved all in with his very short stack of 12300 and found himself joined by two other players who had him covered. At the showdown, Tollefsen had 8♥ 8♦ while his fellow challengers had A♣ Q♠ and A♠ K♦. With the board running 4♥ 5♦ 6♥ J♣ 3♥, Tollefsen tripled up.
Bryan Huang instantly called a player’s all in and won the pot while giving the boot with his A♣ Q♥ topping K♥ J♦ on a board that ran 10♣ 5♣ 4♠ Q♣ 7♦.
Michael Marvanek reraised Marc Rivera’s 5500 bet to make it 16000 to go but Rivera stuck around and shoved all his chips in for a showdown between the two. Rivera had A♠ A♥ versus Marvanek’s K♠ K♠. When the board slapped a K♣ 10♣ 8♣ Marvanek rejoiced at having improved and after the turn of 9♠ and river of 8♥ completing the board, Rivera bowed out of the Main Event.
Brian Sombero raised 3,600 preflop and saw a re-pop to 11,000 by an opponent. Sombero called to bring the flop 8♣ 5♣ 4♥, which was checked by both players.
The turn 7♥ arrived and Sombero shoved his remaining stack worth around 50,000. The opponent called and showed A♣ J♣ ahead of Sombero’s J♥ Q♥
The river 3♥ quickly changed their fates however as Sombero is back with a the opponent’s stack drops to danger levels.
Matthew Chadwick limped in from late position to join the blinds and see a flop of A♠ 2♥ 7♦ land on the felt. The blinds checked to Chadwick who bet 8000 only to get raised double by small blind Jerry Lai. After the big blind folded, Chadwick shoved his remaining chips in the pot and Lai snap-called. Lai had 2♦ 2♣ for a set and Chadwick held A♦ 9♦ for top pair. The turn of 5♣ and river of 7♣ were no help to Chadwick who quickly left the scene.
