Hung Sheng Lin is the new APT Main Event champion!

Hung Sheng Lin has done it! He dominated the heads up round against Evgeny Kurilenko climbing to nearly 80% of the chips in play before closing it out. The final hand saw Lin push all in with J 8 and Kurilenko called with A J. The board ran 9 K J 8 7 for two pair and the title.

Lin captured the HKD 587,000 first place purse, the APT Championship Trophy, and the exclusive APT Championship Ring.

For runner-up Evgeny Kurilenko, he earned the HKD 391,200 prize money.

Evgeny Kurilenko is losing pot after pot to Hung Sheng Lin and just lost another to bring his stack down to 1.65M. The hand began with a 250k raise by Lin and Kurilenko called on the big blind. At the flop 4 10 7, Kurilenko checked, Lin c-bet 175k, and Kurilenko called. On the Q turn, both players checked, but on the river 8, Kurilenko banged out 425k and Lin called.

After more tit for tat hands, Hung Sheng LIn has claimed another big one to send his stack to 6.5M and Kurilenko’s to 2.9M. The hand began with a 250k raise from Kurilenko and Lin calling on the big blind. At the flop K 8 6, Lin checked, Kurilenko bet 175k, and Lin called. On the 2 turn, LIn checked again, Kurilenko bet 575k to send LIn tanking. It took Lin nearly 5 minutes to decide and he opted to push all in. Kurilenko folded.

Hung Sheng LIn has won the next couple of pots with one of them with added punch. Evgeny Kurilenko raised to 200k, LIn three-bet to 550k, Kurilenko called. On the flop A 5 J, Lin fired out 350k and folded. 3.8M. Lin back up to 5.6M.

Evgeny Kurilenko has won a couple of meatier pots than the usual raise fold to bring him just about even with the leader. On one hand, he called Hung Sheng Lin’s 180k raise and on the flop J 4 4, he check-raised from 120k to 375k. Lin folded.

Another pot saw a raised pot preflop and the dealer spread Q 4 A. Both checked and the turn felted A?. Kurilenko fired out 275k and claimed it with Lin folding.


Finally a full board!

After nine hands that only saw the flop a few times, we finally got to see a full board on the 10th hand. Hung Sheng Lin raised to 180k on the button and big blind Evgeny Kurilenko called. At the flop A J 9, Kurilenko checked, Lin bet 120k, Kurilenko called. On the 4 turn, both players checked, and the river came 8. Kurilenko led for 350k and scooped it with Lin folding.

Wang Jun was short-stacked all day and never posed a threat to the big stacks. Pushing and folding numerous times, it was just a matter of time whether he would double up or bust. With just the push or fold option, on the first hand after the break, he was was all in with J 7 and was up against Evgeny Kurilenko with K 9. The board ran A 4 5 Q 8.

Wang earned HKD 195,800 for his deep finish.
