Japan’s Toshimitsu Kamei has taken over the chip lead at his table. He first eliminated Michael Ermie with J♥ J♦ holding up against A♠ 9♦. Several orbits later, he won another massive pile to drive his stack to a huge 975k. We will attempt to get his other winning hands as soon as we reach another break.
Yoichi Uesugi got involved in two hands back-to-back and both of them cost him some chips. The first pot went to Wang Meng. It started with a raise by Sony Liang Liang to 22k from the button. Uesugi called from the sb seat, then Meng re-raised on the bb to 75k. Sony opted to fold but Uesugi tossed in the call. At the flop Q♦ 5♣ 2♥, Uesugi checked, Meng fired out 80k, and Uesugi folded up,
Next hand, cutoff Sony was all in with A♣ 9♠ and Uesugi on the button calle with 7♣ 7♠. The board ran 9♦ 2♠ K♦ Q♣ 2♥ for a higher two pair to Sony. He doubled up to around 340k while Uesugi dropped to 680k which is still above average.
Only two players are over 1 Million and both of them are at the same table. They ran into each other twice with each one besting the other.
The first one saw Hele Hele Liu raise to 25k and big blind Evgeny Kurilenko called on the big blind. At the flop 10♦ 9♠ 7♥, Kurilenko checked then called Liu’s 34k bet. On the A♥ turn, action was the same with Kurilenko calling a 100k bet. Then on the 2♣ river, no bets came and Kurilenko won with his A♣ 10♥ two pair.
Several hands later, both players stared down a board 7♥ 4♣ A♣ J♦ 5♠ with 225k already brewed. Kurilenko bet 130k then faced a shove by Liu. He had around 790k. Kurilenko tanked for quite some time then opted to fold. Liu sighed loudly saying “biggest bluff ever” and Kurilenko replied back, “that wasn’t a bluff”.
Liu nears 1.1M while Kurilenko dropped to 900k.
Piet Pape is back in fine shape after winning the bout against Wang Meng. On a turn board 2♣ 7♦ Q♥ Q♠, Meng checked, Pape bet 30k, Meng raised to 65k, Pape called. On the river K♦, Meng fired out 140k, Pape shoved, and in a swift move, Meng mucked.
Several hands after, Pape railed Jacky Wong to climb to over 800k.
We are at a break. There are 18 players remaining. Two tables. Current chip leaders:
Evgeny Kurilenko – over 1M
Hele Liu – 1M
Yoichi Uesugi – 875k
Two Hong Kong players went head-to-head in what ended up to be a very difficult moment for Wong Hoi Ming Jacky. The hand began with a 25k raise by Wong from the utg seat and Sai Ho Philip Chiu called on the big blind. At the flop 10♥ A♦ 5♦, Chiu checked, Wong c-bet 27k, Chiu three-bet 62k, Wong four-bet 122k, Chiu five-bet shove.
This sent Wong struggling to act. He was well covered by Chiu. The clock was finally called and was timed out awarding Chiu the pot.
Wong dropped to 250k while Chiu rose to over 900k.
With action folding all the way to the button, Masaru Mukai raised to 21k. Acting next was sb Hung Sheng Lin who three-bet to 65k. Mukai shoved and Hung snap-called.
Mukai Q♦ Q♠
Hung A♥ K♥
The board came A♣ 9♥ 3♥ 7♦ 8♥ for a dominating nut flush to Hung and all of Mukai’s chips. 19 players remaining.
Suh Seong Hyun had all his chips in on a flop 7♥ 10♠ A♥ holding Q♥ J♥ and had to spike one of his outs against Wang Jun’s A♠ K♠ to avoid the rail. The turn 3♦ and 4♠ were not the cards he needed sending him out of the tournament.
We are down to 23 players. Current chip leaders are:
Evgeny Kurilenko – over 1 Million
Sai Ho Philip Chiu – over 1 Million
Yoichi Uesugi – 950k
Average stack is 411,000
