Day 2 ends with 34 players

And that’s it for today! Day 2 of the Championships Event has completed its 8 rounds. Scroll back and read up on some of the biggest hands of the day.

Closing the day with the largest stack was Ajitpal Singh with 915,000.  In second rank was Lim Yohwan with 856,000, and in third position was Stephen Schumacher with 845,000.

Romit Advani doubles up through Patni

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 6000

Just before the final hand of the day, Romit Advani banked himself a double up through fellow countryman Kunal Patni. Action began with utg+1 Patni raising to 13k then down the line, Advani jammed his 106k stack. Patni called.

The board ran 4 3 2 K A. Patni dropped to 155k, Advani rose to around 220k. Patni climbed a little on the final hand winning a small pot against He Hao.


Phachara Wongichit gets there on the river

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 6000

After Phachara Wongwichit paid two players, he struggled with his short stack. Looking for that one spot to double up, he shoved his 43k stack with 8 8. Two players called.

When the flop ran K 6 9, one player bet for a side pot but got a fold instead leading to heads up against Wongwichit. The player held K Q top pair. The turn K improved the player to trips but when the river 8 came down, Wongwichit overtook with a boat and tripled up to around 135k.


Gu Hui Dong not afraid of the big stack

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 6000

Utg player Gu Hui Dong raised to 13k, got called by one player, cutoff Lim Yohwan with his massive stack re-raised to 43k. Back to Huynh, he shoved his 375k stack. No callers.


Huynh Vinh Quang triples up and more

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 6000

Huyn Vinh Quang had around 7bbs left and pushed it all in with A K. He faced another all in player, bigger stacked Madhav Gupta A 9, and Phachara Wongwichit Q Q covering them both. The board was kind to the shorties as it ran A 4 10 6 7. Huynh tripled up and Gupta won the side pot.

Two hands after, Huynh eliminated Tomomitsu Ono with A-Q doing the job. Huynh now almost average with 220k.


Eun Ho Kwon vs Norbert Koh

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 6000

Raised pot preflop saw the cards land 3 10 6. Sb Norbert Koh checked, down the orbit Eun Ho Kwon bet 27k, Koh called. On the Q turn, Kwon fired 90k, and this time Koh folded. Kwon at 570k.

Bang bang! Boxer delivers a double KO

Two players all in with A-Q offsuit with Lim Yohwan aka Boxer looking to knock them out with his 10 10. He did just that when the board ran 10 5 8 4 6. We are down to 35 players. Boxer now at 905k.


SJ Kim folds a big one to Ajitpal Singh

Level: 15 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 6000

Ajitpal Singh has been the leader for some time and has grown further to 948k after winning a humongous pot against SJ Kim. Catching the hand on a turn board 5 A J K and around 100k in the middle, big blind Singh checked, Kim fired 43k, Singh answered with a raise to 107k, Kim flat-called. On the river 3, Singh fired 147k sending Kim deep into deliberation. It was a good five minutes before he finally decided to fold and showed his J J set. Singh opted not to show.
