Day 2 ends with final 18 players

Day 2 is in the books! The final 18 players are bagging up for the night. They will return tomorrow at 1pm for another race, this time to the Final 8. Tonight’s captain was Sai Ho Philip Chiu with his massive 736,000 stack. No one comes close to his stack. He is nearly 1.5x the average stack of 300,000.

We will have a recap for you so stand by for that. Congratulations to all of the day’s survivors!

Bubble bursts! Jin Tian eliminates Tso Wei

Level: 17 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

Tso Wei (seated) and Jin Tian (standing)

That’s it! The bubble has burst and the unfortunate player was Tso Wei, the Day 1A chip leader. Wei was all in with A 8 and Tian called with 10 10. The board ran 3 3 7 8 2.

Congratulations to all the players in the money! Time to bag up!

Robert Wirth railed! Bubble round begins

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Robert Wirth has had a short stack for quite some time and despite doubling up along the way, he still couldn’t bring it up to be a major threat. His final hand arrived against Masato Yokosawa. On a flop of Q A 2, Yokosawa bet 18k, Wirth check-called. On the turn J, Wirth shoved and got a snap call from Yokosawa.

Wirth 5 4 flush
Yokosawa K 2 higher flush

With 19 remaining, we have reached the bubble round!

Danny Tang takes from Gavin Flynn

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Danny Tang shaved some chips off Gavin Flynn’s stack. We saw him raise from the button preflop and Flynn defended on the big blind. At the flop 2 7 A, Q turn, we missed the action but a hefty pile had built up in the middle. On the 4 river, Tang bet 66k and Flynn tanked then check-called. Tang opened up A A set and scoops up the pot.

Tang up to 420k, Flynn down 275k.

Ronald Yu wins a pot

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

We haven’t had a hand from Ronald Yu but catching one now definitely deserves a post especially that he is sporting those highly photogenic thunderbolts. It was a four-way pot the was opened by Victor Chong to 13k. Gabriel Carter, Michael Tran, and Yu called.

At the flop 2 10 A, everyone checked. On the 4 turn and 6 river it was still checked by all and Yu won with his 10 7 pair.

Chan Ying Kit wins two pots

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Chan Ying Kit picked up a couple of good pots to bring him over 250k. The first one was against Gabriel Carter. Chan raised to 15k, Carter three-bet to 37k, Chan called. On the flop 4 A J, Carter checked, Chan shoved, Carter folded.

Next winning moment saw Dong Guo raise to 13k and both Chan and Michael Soyza called. At the flop Q 8 A, Soyza checked, Guo bet 9k, Chan called, and back to Soyza who folded for heads up between Guo and Chan.

On the turn 10, Guo checked Chan bet 30k, and won the pot with Guo folding. Guo commented that he didn’t realize Chan was in the hand and c-bet the flop against Soyza. Oops!

Sai Ho Philip Chiu zooms to 730k, rails Jingxuan Zhu

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Sai Ho Philip Chiu has just jumped into a big lead by ousting Jingxuan Zhu. The betting was kicked off by Gavin Flynn (hj) with a 14k raise, called by db Chiu, then bb Zhu shoved his 113k stack. Back to Flynn, he called and so did Chiu.

At the flop 7 2 10, no side pot was generated. On the 5 turn Flynn checked, Chiu slid out a bet but before the count, Flynn folded.

Chiu Q Q
Zhu A 2

The river 4 was the end for Zhu. Chiu zoomed to 730k and is without a doubt the chip leader.

Michael Tran shows Carter one

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

From the sb seat Michael Tran three-bet a 13k raise by button player Gabriel Carter and it was called. On the flop 2 8 6, Tran c-bet 44k and Carter called. On the turn 4, Tran made it a heftier 92k sending Carter to the tank. He folded. Tran showed him one card A and ships the pot.

Yuri Ishida doubles up with aces

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Yuri Ishida has been short-stacked throughout the day but has managed to up it here and there. Her recent boost was a double up against Daniel Tang with her A A staying ahead against Q Q. She is up to 120k.
