APT Championships Event Macau

Kohei Nakai wins a good one off Justin Chan

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

One of last year’s championship final tableists, Justin Pak Kwan Chan is in the field and we happen to catch a hand between him and Kohei Nakai. Chan kicked it off with a raise to 5k from the hijack seat and Nakai defended on the big blind.

At the flop 7 4 A, Nakai checked to the aggressor Chan who c-bet 3k. Nakai called. On the 10 turn, no bets were fired but on the 7 river, Nakai took the reins and bet 4700. Chan called. Nakai won with A 3 as Chan mucked.

Michael Song with snappy calls

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Three-way action with a raised pot preflop, the board ran K 5 9. Small blind Michael Song checked, cutoff Li Xiang Lai checked, and so did button Bobby Zhang. On the turn 7, Song checked again, Lai bet 8500, Zhang folded, and a snappy call by Song. On the A river, action was the same with Song snap-calling a 17.5k bet by Lai. Lai had A J but Song had him with 9 7 two pair. Song up to 142k.

Tanking Tang pays Dong Guo’s higher flush

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Daniel Tang and Dong Guo stared down a board A K 8 6 with around 14k already brewed in the middle. Tang checked, Guo bet 7300, and Tang flat-called. On the river 4, Tang checked, Guo fired out 25.5k, Tang tanked. After a couple of minutes of indecision, one player finally asked Tang if he wanted him to call the clock and Tang said yes.

As the clocked ticked down and less than 10 seconds left, Tang tossed in the call. Guo opened his Q J flush and Tang tossed his in the muck while showing his J 10 flush. Guo now up to 210k.

With one level down, they will play another 8 rounds before we bag up.

Gabriel Carter pushes out En Ching Wu

Level: 9 Blinds: 600-1200 Ante: 200

Gabriel Carter has just re-entered and within minutes, he was all in again. The board was 8 Q 5 7 with 26.2K in the pot. En Ching Wu bet 18k and Carter shoved with 51.9k. Wu tanked then folded.

Michael Soyza happily doubles up

Level: 9 Blinds: 600-1200 Ante: 200

Despite sitting in a very short handed table, Michael Soyza was happy to survive this all in. He had J-J against Cheng Tianyu with A-K. The board bricked. Soyza now above starting stack.

Hazel Shan and Hung Sheng Lin bust early

Level: 9 Blinds: 600-1200 Ante: 200

We have a couple of early bust outs but with registration open, they can still jump back in. With a 50,000 starting stack and blinds at 600-1200 ante 200, that should give new players around 40 or more big blinds.

The first casualty happened on the first hand and it was quite a sick cooler. Only three players were at the table. Hazel Chui Yuen Shan was all in with K K and Bobby Zhang was all in as well with A A. Zhang went on to double up, Shan dropped to 5k, then busted two hands later.

At another table, Main Event champion Hung Sheng Lin was eliminated. We didn’t see his hand but we did get a quick look at the winner’s hand as the pot was being shipped. Jin Qiang Shi had 4-7 on a board 4-A-6-4-5 for trips. We will try to get Hung’s hand during the break.
