Andy Ying Kit Chan moved all in with his very short 99k stack and Michael Tran called. Chan had A♥ Q♠ and Tran with J♥ 9♦. When the flop felted A♠ Q♣ K♥, Chan turned about, refusing to look at the board any further, hoping his two pair would hold. The turn 5♠ and river J♠ kept him safe for a double up to over 220k. Tran dropped to around 310k.
Battle of the big stacks. Sparrow Cheung limped in from the small blind and Victor Chong checked on the bb. At the flop 8♥ 4♥ 5♣, Sparrow checked, Chong bet 20k, and Sparrow called. On the 5♠ turn, action was the same with Sparrow check-calling a 60k bet, but on the 10♣ river, Sparrow folded to Chong’s 280k bet. Chong now at 1.1M.
They met again several hands later with Sparrow raising to 50k on cutoff, called only by Chong on the button. At the flop 9♠ 7♠ 6♠, Sparrow checked to Chong who slid out a bet and Sparrow quickly folded.

At the festival’s Main Event, China’s Wang Meng finished in a deep 8th place. Impressively, he navigated his way to the Championships Event Final 8 looking to bring it much deeper. Unfortunately, he will have to settle for another 8th place finish having just fallen to Victor Chong.

Meng’s final hand was A♠ K♦ that missed on the board against Chong’s 8♠ 8♦. He earned another nice pot of HKD 68,700 to add to his earlier winnings.

After losing a costly pot to Chan Ying Kit, Michael Tran was all in twice and got paid on both of them by Sparrow Cheung. First encounter, Tran had A♠ J♣ and Sparrow with A♦ 10♦. The board ran low for the kicked to play.
Next double up was two hands after. Tran raised to 250k leaving himself 7k behind. Sparrow called. Before the flop, Tran blind checked. Flop came 4♦ 4♣ 2♦ and Sparrow put Tran all in. Tran tossed his 7k in and turned over A♣ K♣ while Sparrow had Q♦ Q♠. The turn 8♣ and river 9♣ awarded Tran a runner-runner flush and a pot amounting to 568k.
Tran now has more than what he started the day with.
After six uncalled raises preflop,, we finally saw three full boards in a row and all of them involved Andy Chan Ying Kit. The first hand was by far the most tense of the three. Sparrow Cheung opened to 40k on the button, Chan three-bet on the big blind sending Cheung tanking for a long time. He finally called.
At te flop J♦ 2♦ 2♠, Chan c-bet 80k and Cheung called. On the A♦ turn, he c-bet another 80k and Cheung called. On the J♣ river, he fired 80k again leaving himself 61k behind, and Cheung called.

Chip leader Cheung scooped it up.
Following that hand, Chan shoved on the next two hands. On the first one he had A♥ 10♥ and was called by Philip Chiu with Q♣ 3♥. Chan doubled up with an ace on the board. He doubled up again with his A♠ 3♦ paid by Michael Tran with K♥ J♠ that was dominated throughout. Chan back up, now has 294k. Tran drops to 107k.
Masato Yokosawa
After Michael Tran won the first pot of the Final 8, raising but finding no callers, Masato Yokosawa opened the next five pots.
His first one was raise to 36k from the button and got called by the chip leader Sparrow Cheung on the big blind. At the flop Q♠ 3♥ 8♣, Cheung checked, Yokosawa c-bet 55k, Cheung folded.
Second open, he raised to 40k from cutoff, Yuri Ishida called on the button, then Sparrow Cheung three-bet to 180k. No callers and Cheung won the pot.
Third open, he raised to 40k from hijack seat, no callers, From the lo-jack seat he raised 42k, and still no callers. On his fifth open, from utg+1, he raised to 44k and bb Wang Meng defended. At the flop 10♦ Q♠ A♦. Meng checked, Yokosawa bet 40k, and took it down.
The table is set, the players are back, shuffle up and deal! Race to the Championships Event title begins! Today is the last day of the APT Macau Championships 2018 festival and what better way to close it out than with the crowning of another APT champion.
Play has begun with the Final 8 now guaranteed a minimum of HKD 68,700. The eventual champion will ship in the HKD 509,400 first place purse, the APT Championship Trophy, and exclusive APT Championship Ring.
