APT Asian Series Manila 2013 Main Event

Rivera Not Going Home Yet

Level: 29 Blinds: 30000-60000 Ante: 10000

After becoming the shortest-stacked player in a previous hand, Czardy Rivera recovered against Frank Acfalle Jr.

Postflop K 5 7, Rivera and Acfalle Jr were both all-in with the former at risk.

Rivera: K 4
Acfalle Jr.: Q J

No help for Acfalle on the turn 3 and river 8 and he becomes the shortest-stacked player after this hand with just 290,000.

Rivera has now over 750,000.

Rivera Can’t Handle Postflop Heat from Kukreja

Level: 29 Blinds: 30000-60000 Ante: 10000

Haresh Kukreja is really starting to heat up.

Postflop, he shoved all-in with roughly 900,000 forcing Rivera to spend some time in the tank as he has only 350,000 left or so.

Rivera decided to throw away the hand and give Kukreja the nice pot. Kukreja climbs to over 1.3M while Rivera is very short-stacked at this point.

Kukreja Doubles Again

Level: 29 Blinds: 30000-60000 Ante: 10000

Haresh Kukreja shoved his final 425,000 and got a call from Lester Edoc.

Kukreja: Q J
Edoc: A 7

Kukreja flopped the straight on the board K 10 9 and the turn J and river J assured his double-up to around 900,000.

Edoc takes a bit of a hit but still has over 2.2M in chips.

Sloan’s Eights Fail (6th Place – PHP 729,000)

Level: 29 Blinds: 30000-60000 Ante: 10000

Lester Edoc’s preflop raise of 150,000 prompted Craig Sloan to move all-in his final 650,000 or so. Edoc made the call.

Sloan: 8 8
Edoc: A Q

Immediately, Edoc hit not one but two on the flop A Q 6 to take the lead. Sloan needed to hit the two-outer to survive but it did not come on the turn 10 and river 6.

Still, good job from Sloan who went out in 6th place of the Main Event and will get handsomely paid with PHP 729,000.

Acfalle Jr.– Steady

Level: 28 Blinds: 25000-50000 Ante: 5000

Guys from the media team have been commenting how Frank Acfalle Jr. has been steady all along in this final table so far.

After another win, against Victorino Torres, he’s back with around 1.1M in chips.

Acfalle bet preflop with 110,000 and the flop (Ah} 10 7 wit
Torres h 100,000 and both times Torres called. Turn was checked by both and Acfalle added 200,000 more on the river K and once again, Torres called.

2 x 2 for Sloan

Level: 28 Blinds: 25000-50000 Ante: 5000

Craig Sloan is back in business? Probably. But doubling-up twice is a good sign.

First, his K 10 hit a ten on the flop against Lester Edoc, who had 5 5. 150 x 2 and some, he climbed to over 300,000 or so.

Then, Sloan with ducks had to dodge a lot of cards after Haresh Kukreja made called his shove with K Q.

He had to sweat a board 10 6 10 9 7 before doubling up to roughly 700,000.

Haresh returns to the bottom with 400,000.
