APT Asian Series Manila 2013 Main Event

Faster Than a Speeding Bullet: First-Hand Ouch for Takayama!

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante: 0

We have to confirm if indeed it was the very first hand but it’s safe to assume that it was one of Mike Takayama’s first hand.

Apparently, the Filipino just took his seat when he woke up with bullets!

Curiously, Takayama chose to limp his aces from mid-position and got his wish when the big blind raised to 1,075. Takayama responded by upping it to 5,000 and the BB player shoved his stack worth well over 25,000!

Best news for Takayama and he instantly called!

Takayama: A A
Opponent: A J

However, the poker gods have a very different plan for Takayama on this day. Flop showed… THREE CLUBS and his opponent immediately got the flush and the lead!

Turn and river was garbage and Takayama is sent to the rail just minutes (seconds?) after joining Day 1B.

Te’s Flush Gives him Over 30K

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante: 0

From the middle position, a player opened to 400 and found multiple callers including Jun Te from the big blind.

Flop: 6 K 9

Original raiser bet 775, two players got out of the way and the blinds make the call.

On the turn 7 it was Te who bet first (1,650) forcing out the CO player but got a customer from the SB.

River K arrived and this time, the SB played led out with 3,000. Te tanked a bit but eventually made the call.

Small Blind Player: 8 7
Jun Te: 10 7

The Te’s baby flush was good to win the nice pot and he climbs to over 30,000.

Too Late the Hero

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante: 0

Here’s a (sort of) funny story:

Our hand reporter, Dylan was talking to a guy (not playing in the main event) during the break and the latter told him that he was looking for the RWM feeder tournaments to the APT Main Event when he realized (late!) that this was APT week already!

Apparently, the plan was to take part in one of those 500-peso buy-in multiple round satellites tourneys to the main event but since those are not available, he ended up buying-in for later tonight’s MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo tournament worth PHP 5,500!

Good luck sir! Sometimes the best laid plans are… unplanned.

Who topped Day 1A?

Interested to know who are the 69 players who advanced to Day 2 from yesterday’s Day 1A of the Main Event?

We got that covered, check the Day 1A chip counts now.

Martin G’s Turn-Shove

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante: 0

Before we go to the first ten-minute break of the day here’s a quick one from Martin Gonzales table:

With the board 2 4 6 8, Martin Gonzales shoved his remaining stack well over 11,000.

His opponent tanked and eventually folded his hand.

Martin G has now around 30,000 in chips.

Big Slick vs. Big Slick

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante: 0

Alessandro D’Bini must be feeling very good after this hand.

After a series of raises and re-raises preflop, two players had all of their chips in the middle and when the hands were tabled we had an apparent Big Slick vs. Big Slick battle.

D’Bini: A K
Opponent: A K

Those diamonds did play into the equation after a flop of 9 5 2 was tabled.

Then the turn 3 arrived and the opponent is drawing dead! He officially gets the boot when the river 3 arrived and D’Bini’s stack grows to over 40,000 after the series of fortunate events!

Hoon Can’t Earn Much Off the Ladies

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante: 0

From the hi-jack, Hans Lim Due Hoon raised to 450 and saw both blinds call.

Flop: 5 7 7

Blinds both check but Hoon added 1,100 more to the middle. SB player made the call but BB folded his hand.

Both the turn K and river A were checked by both and when the SB players showed 5 9, Hoon realized that his Q Q could have gotten more from this hand.

Nonetheless, Hoon adds a few to his stack.
