With a healthy pot brewing in a board of K♣ 2♦ 7♠, a player from Under-the-Gun opened to 2,200, which was called by Lester Edoc to bring the turn 5♣
UTG led out again with 3,300 and again, Edoc called to bring the river 9♣.
UTG bet 4,400 and Edoc responded with a (big) shove this time forcing his opponent to move all-in if he calls… The opponent did.
Lester shows A♣ 6♣ for the made flush and his opponent couldn’t believe he fell for the trap on the river.
Another one bites the dust, and another one climbs over the 100,000 chip-mark.
With just 23,000 or so behind, Alessandro D’Bini must have been feeling all ecstatic inside when the dealer flopped J♥ 5♣ 10♣ with another player still in the hand.
The reason for ecstasy is the J♦ 10♦.
We did not catch who went all-in first but both players shoved postflop and D’Bini had to sweat it out when he saw his opponent with J♣ 3♣.
Fortunately for D’Bini and otherwise for the opponent, the turn and river weren’t a club and Alessandro rises to over 55,000 while crippling his opponent down to 10,000.
With around 8,000 in the pot on a board of K♥ 8♠ 2♥, a player from the big blind bet a big 11,000 to lead off the action post-flop only to see Lester Edoc move all-in for his final 30,000. His opponent called.
BB Player: K♦ Q♣
Edoc: A♠ A♦
The last two community cards 7♥ J♠ assured Edoc’s Day 1B survival and he jumps to over 30,000 in chips.
Dinner break is over. Time for the remaining 163 players to snack on their opponents– of course, the bigger the pot, the larger the satisfaction!
Here are the official stats from the big board:
APT Asian Series Manila 2013 Main Event Champion receives, 4.27M from the total prize pool of 17.36M.
The number of runners for Day 1B is 230 (+4 from our official count some posts back) and total number of runners for the entire Main Event is 389 (159 signed up for Day 1A).
Yesterday, 69 players qualified to Day 2 set tomorrow. How many players will join them after today?
Here’s a quick one before the break:
Lion Lee doubled-up with A♦ 8♦ on a board of 8♥ 2♠ 4♣ 8♣ J♠.
Unfortunate for his opponent who had his 2♦ 4♦ counterfeited when the eight appeared on the turn.
Lee survives and has 28,000.
The official numbers are about to posted on the big board but tournament director Lloyd Fontillas has just announced that the winner of the APT Asian Series Manila 2013 Main Event will be receiving roughly PHP 4.3 million!
Marc Rivera is in a serious run now.
We just reported how his chip stack rose to over 70K and in this one we’ll tell you how he passed the century mark.
With already a considerable amount of chips in the middle, Jay Tolon opened the action postflop J♦ 10♠ 8♦ but saw a raise from Rivera. Tolon responded with a shove and Rivera made the call for yet another titantic showdown!
Tolon had a set already with 8♥ 8♠ but Rivera was looking for a huge haul if he hits his open-ended straight or diamond-flush draws with K♦ 9♦!
And the turn 7♣ indeed completed the straight and the river 4♥ can’t save Tolon as he gets busted out of Day 1B.
Rivera has now over 110,000 in chips.
