APT Asian Series Manila 2013 Main Event

With a Double-Up, Marcos is Still Alive

Level: 10 Blinds: 400-800 Ante: 100

Holding A 10, Ian Marcos put all of his 9,800 to the middle and found an opponent willing to take him out. The opponent trailed however, with just A 3.

Dealer boarded 2 10 K J J and Marcos survives and has now around 20,000 to work with with a level and a half to go in Day 1A.

Record-Breaking Mega-Satellite!

Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas has just announced that 164 players have joined the Last Chance Mega Satellite to the Main Event. That’s 17 seats to win for tomorrow’s Day 1B!

Dam Back in the Groove

Level: 9 Blinds: 300-600 Ante: 75

In an earlier hand, we saw Edward Dam’s stack take a hit when his ladies fell to Alan Escano’s bullets.

In this hand, he takes back some of the lost chips.

The board already showed 7 6 6 4 9 when an opponent bet 7,500 on the river… Dam coldly called and it was the correct one as his 10 10 beat the opponent’s A J.

Back-to-Back Eliminations by SuperSupnet

Level: 9 Blinds: 300-600 Ante: 75

Two superb hands from SuperSupnet!

Hand #1:

Flop: J 9 2

A player check-shoved Supnet for around 20,000 but Jessie made the call.

Opponent: 10 9
Supnet: A A

Turn 2 and river K and Supnet busts out a player.

Hand #2:

Pre-flop a player from mid-position bet 1,500 and saw Supnet re-pop to 3,600, which was called by the MP player.

Flop: K 10 2

Opponent with Q J shoved… And Supnet once again called showing K Q. Turn 6 and river 10 did not give the opponent’s outs and Supnet busts another player.

Chuan Yu Dodges Bullets, Ousts Nam Le

Level: 9 Blinds: 300-600 Ante: 75

In an earlier hand, Nam Le was holding bullets and it held against an opponent’s ladies…

He held the rockets again in this particular battle but the dynamics were very different in a hand versus Fu Chuan Yu.

Post-flop of 9 6 3 Chuan Yu shoved all of his stack in an already raised pot. Nam made the call and showed he had A A

Turn 10 was safe for Le but the river 10 wasn’t and booted him out of Day 1A.

Chuan Yu joins the chip leaders with over 65,000.

And So Far, Here Are Your Day 1A Leaders…

Level: 9 Blinds: 300-600 Ante: 75

Hand Reporters R and D have been moving around the Genting Club a bit and found out that these players are among the leaders so far in Day 1A:

Estimate Chip Counts:
Edward Dam – 60,000
Alan Escano – 70,000
Andrew Nguyen – 55,000
Joaquin Torres – 100,000
The Vu Van – 53,000
Hyun Dong Jin – 80,000
Shimpei Yamaguchi – 70,000
Lee Se Hooh – 90,000
Jesse Supnet – 80,000
Fu Chuan Yu – 65,000

Obviously, we won’t be surprised if one of the names in this list end up as the chip-leader after today

Huang Wins Short-Stacks Showdown

Level: 9 Blinds: 300-600 Ante: 75

A very short-stacked player shoved with just under 5,000 in chips but an also short-stacked Bryan Huang isolated him by going all-in as well with over 10,000.

The other players got out of the way and we have short-stack showdown:

Huang: 9 9
Opponent: A Q

The flop Q 8 4 gave the lead to Huang’s opponent but the turn 9 decided to give it back to Huang. River 5 and the set of nines gave Bryan some chips to work with with now over 16,500.

Stefansky Puts Pressure on Marcos

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Post flop of 2 8 10, Ian Marcos faced the prospect of getting eliminated if he called when the guy across the table, Joshua Stefansky put a 10,000-bet in a 4,000-pot.

Marcos was very short-stacked at this point, with just roughly 7,000 behind. He tanked a bit but eventually gave up the hand… Stefansky adds more to his stack now well-over 75,000.
