Bubble Protection

Bubble Protection is a one of the best perks for players attending the Main Event. In the event that a “bubble protected player” busts on the bubble, that player will receive his/her buy-in back in the form of APT Tournament credits (valid for one year). Since its inception in 2016, Bubble Protection has saved several players from walking away empty-handed. To be eligible, all you need to do is follow the easy steps below:

  1. Pre-register
  2. Draw for your seat before starting time
  3. Have your chips put into play on the first deal of Level 1

Mike Takayama wins back-to-back titles

Filipino pro Mike Takayama is running very hot at the series. Immediately after crushing the Head Hunter event yesterday afternoon, he jumped into the High Rollers Single Day and shipped it once again. Takayama pocketed a much fatter first prize money worth TWD 730,500 (~USD 24,000).

The High Rollers Single Day rounded up 48 runners at TWD 54,000 (~USD 1,800) each for a prize pool of TWD 2,328,000 (~USD 76,100). By the time the bubble round was reached (9 players), Takayama had one of the shortest stacks and nearly fell holding A 6 to Wayne Heung‘s A 8. As luck will have it, the board ran 3 10 10 J 10 to split the pot. Takayama’s next shove Q Q saw him joined by a shorter stacked player A J. The board ran empty, the bubble burst, and the final 8 was formed.

High Rollers Single Day – Final 8 players

The path to victory still didn’t come easy for Takayama. At the start of the final 8, his stack stayed within 8 to 12 bbs while Ko Hsing Ni (seat 2) held the big chip lead. Once the field was down to four players Kazuhiko Yotsushika (seat 6) dominated pushing into the leader’s seat. Short stacked Wu Yu Jui (seat 4) attempted a comeback and was momentarily successful with a double up through Yotsushika however it didn’t last. Yotsushika still sent Wu to the rail on the next hand with K Q straight over A 3 two pair on a board A J 10 Q 3

At three-handed, Yotsushika and Takayama locked horns. Takayama won the bout with A 10 higher two pair fully paid against A 8 lower two pair on a board A 8 2 10 K. This gave Takayama the overwhelming chip lead which he used to bump out the crippled Yotsushika in 3rd place. Heads up against Ko followed and didn’t last long. Takayama grinded her down until she pushed with 10 9. She missed on a board of A 5 J Q 3 and fell to Takayama’s K Q

With this win, Takayama now leads the APT Player of the Series race. For all the players in the money, make sure to check your standing here.
