The APT Finale Philippines 2018 awarded the last of its side event champions here at Resorts World Manila. Here are the final four winners:
Kosei Ichinose wins his second series title at the Monster Stack event
The two-day Monster Stack event pumped in 117 entries for a very fat prizepool of PHP 2,837,200. Out of that pot, 20 players earned a cut. The final 8 players was a special one for father and son, David and Joshua Chargualaf. This was the first time the duo reached the final table of an APT event together. They took 4th and 5th place.
Capturing the title was Japanese pro Kosei Ichinose. Ichinose dominated the final 8 action that by four-handed, he amassed a wide lead. By heads up, Ichinose faced Tan Chong with a 10:1 chip advantage. Chong proved tough, cutting the lead to 3:1. However, luck decided the end of the game. Chong all in with J♥ J♦, Ichinose with 7♠ 7♦. The board ran 2♠ Q♣ A♥ 9♠ 7♥ for a victorious set to Ichinose.
Ichinose shipped his second event of the series along with the PHP 693,400 first prize.

Jae Wook Shin wins the High Rollers Single Day
11 players signed up for the High Rollers Single Day with each one coughing up the PHP 215,000 entry fee. This created a prizepool of PHP 2,134,000 with only 2 places paid. All the big guns fell before the money, Lester Edoc, John Tech, and Mike Takayama.
Heads up was reached at the fall of Bobby Zhang. Korea’s Jae Wook Shin defeated Japan’s Takeo Hanayama to seize his first victory of the series and the PHP 1,493,800 first prize. Shin earned PHP 640,200 for runner-up.
Junnie Pamplona wins his first-ever APT title at the Deep Stack Turbo
Local player Junnie Pamplona had a big rail cheering him on to the finish.
Pamplona overcame the 58 runners of the event including Jason Yeo at heads up. Both players struck a deal that guaranteed them each PHP 65,500 plus an additional PHP 5,600 to the eventual winner. The game proceeded with Yeo putting up a thrilling challenge but in the end, Pamplona rose above to capture the victory and his first-ever APT title. He earned a total of PHP 71,100.
Sherwin Alda wins the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo
The Deep Stack Hyper Turbo was the last event of the series and it drew 53 to the felt. Action was incredibly fast, with the game completed in just five hours. Taking it down was local player Sherwin Alda defeating Argentina’s Federico Sor at heads up. The players struck a deal that guaranteed them each PHP 60,000 plus an additional PHP 8,500 to the winner.
