Chips were shuffling throughout Day 2 of APT Summer Festival Hanoi with a long list of events running simultaneously at partner venue Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP). Here are the highlights.
KYLE BAO DIEP bags the Mystery Bounty for over VN₫ 520 Million
It was a very special day for Vietnam’s Kyle Bao Diep who outlasted the 49 final day contenders to clinch the Mystery Bounty series opener. This was Diep’s first ever major career win. He proudly matched up with his dad Jimmy Diep who won a bounty trophy back in 2018. To get there, he overcame a grueling twelve hour battle, eliminated six players during the money round which included the highly decorated heavy hitter Pham Tien Dung at heads up. For the achievement, Diep emerged the biggest earner, pocketing a huge VN₫ 520,660,000 (~US$ 22,260) in combined first prize and bounties. You can relive the Final 8 action via the live stream on APT YouTube and APT Twitch.

The Mystery Bounty was a two-day affair that opened with 252 entries across two flights for a guarantee crushing prize pool of VN₫ 1,955,520,000 (~US$ 83,630). Of that figure, VN₫ 756,000,000 was reserved for the mystery bounty rewards which were claimed in Day 2 during the money round. The most coveted prizes were worth VN₫ 154,400,000 (~US$ 6,600), with three hidden in the mix. After Vietnam’s Nguyen Tuan Anh eliminated India’s Rubin Labroo in 22nd place, he drew one of the top prizes. Nguyen later fell in 18th place to eventual runner up Pham Tien Dung for an added VN₫ 14,480,000 payout. In total, Nguyen collected VN₫ 168,880,000 (~US$ 7,220) making him the overall third largest event earner.
Nguyen was just the first of Dung’s six victims, two of them were due to a double knockout. Flight B chip leader Nguyen Tuan Tai also booted two simultaneously. As the final table neared, Kyle Bao Diep joined the scalping spree. With already one under his belt for eliminating Le Truong Son in 21st place with 3♠ 7♠ two pair over A♠ 8♥ that missed the board, Diep added two more, Jasven Saigal (11th), and Vu Duc Trung (10th). At the unofficial final table with nine remaining, it took two hours and average stack dropping down to 17 BB before the Final 8 emerged. Nguyen Van Chien denied APT decorated Main Event champion Shardul Parthasarathi with A♣ K♠ dominating A♦ Q♣.
With the rollback to 30 BB average, the final table lasted several hours. Dung continued to impress by cleaning out the lone Malaysian player remaining. Chang Xiang Guang in 8th place. This earned him his fifth mystery bounty pull which turned into the coveted VN₫ 154,400,000 top prize.
Nguyen Van Hoang aka Hoang Nevar proceeded to eliminate two players, Diep followed with two of his own. On Diep’s first pull, he picked up the last top prize. Shortly after, Dung emptied out Ngo Khoa Anh to bring about heads up. Diep sported the bigger stack and after two showdowns, Diep shipped it to claim the last two rewards remaining. The final hand was Diep A♦ 9♠, Dung J♥ 7♥, the board A♥ 4♥ 8♠ 2♠ 10♣.
Congratulations to Kyle Bao Diep for his victory!

NGUYEN HOANG NAM awarded the win at the Deep Stack Turbo
The Deepstack Turbo clocked in at just over five hours with the 50 entry field knocked down to the last player standing, Nguyen Hoang Nam, for his first ever APT win. At heads up, Nguyen and Tran Manh Hung struck an even chop to end the game. Both players pocketed VN₫ 36,840,000 (~US$ 1,575) each. The trophy was awarded to Nguyen for having the larger stack.
Prior to the victory, Nguyen was already bulldozing the felt. By bubble time, he was running as chip leader and despite doubling up a player, he had more than enough to deliver the bubble with 2♣ 2♠ holding firm against K♠ 10♥ overcards. Nguyen carried the chips all the way to the end to lift the first trophy of the series.

Events on Thursday, July 14
The MAIN EVENT gets underway on Thursday, July 14 with the first of three starting days under the spotlight. This is the Asian Poker Tour‘s most highly revered tournament and this one comes with a VN₫ 5 Billion guarantee. Buy in is VN₫ 22,000,000 (~US$ 940) with unlimited re-entries.
For those new to the APT, the featured event offers one of the best structures in Asia. Players start with 250x the opening big blind. Blinds increase at a slow 60-minute pace. Starting days run through nine levels. For late comers and weekend warriors, registration closes in Day 2 at the start of Level 12. By then, stack to blinds is still a very playable 21 BB. See the APT Player Guide for all the details.
Another great incentive is the Bubble Protection. This is for players who get on the felt before the starting gun. In 2016, the APT introduced the Bubble Protection which is insurance from the bubble. If a protected player bubbles at the Main Event, that player will receive the buy in back in the form of APT credits. To qualify, all you need to do is have your chips in play by the first deal of Level 1. Keep in mind that same-day re-entry will not be protected.
