TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – By garnering runner-up finishes in two events on the final three days of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022, Kristof Segers of Belgium wins the coveted APT Player of the Series (POS) as the last two “additional” tourneys officially closes the book on this leg at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here.
Segers took down (Event #7) the second of the NT$27k (US$850.00) High-Rollers and placed second in (Event #16) the Deep Stack Turbo and (Event #18) the Monster Stack. In all, the WSOP campaigner now based in this city cashed in a total of seven events for NT$572,400.00 (US$18,140.00) and also gets an exclusive APT ring, a limited edition watch and US$800.00 from the APT for his feat.
His performance is one for the books as joined in practically all the events that didn’t coincide with one another and displayed the brand of poker that has amassed him US$92,230.00 in his career as both a live practitioner and an online phenom. This haul win definitely put him above the century thousand mark.
Segers has four local titles and adding two APT trophies to his collection is a stupendously noteworthy accomplishment.
He finished the POS race with a total of 1,501.41 points while second place went to (Event #17) the NT$46k (US$1,457.00) High-Rollers champion Wu Chia Yun with 1,009.17 while (Event #1) Mystery Bounty king Ori Kossonogi of Israel copped third with 844.14. Both receive an additional US$100.00.
Main Event titlist Zhan Shuo Guo–who topped the standings after his win–finished fourth with 842.73.
Meanwhile, the two “additional” events ended just past midnight with the fifth NT$27k High-Rollers going to (Event #2) Super High-Rollers winner He Zong Chi for NT$248,800.00 (US$7,883.00). It was He’s fourth overall APT crown.
Finishing in second was Yi Peng Wei for NT$122,200.00 (US$3,872.00) while Ta Wei Tou was third for NT$65,500.00 (US$2,075.00).
Finally the additional Head-Hunter event saw Yen Yi Hsu coming away with the victory and the top prize of NT$40,100.00 (US$1,270.00) while Tien Wei Yao settled for second place for NT$25,800.00 (US$817.00).
Hua Wei Lin, fresh off her victory in (Event #20) the fourth NT$27k single-day High-Rollers, managed to jump into this one and snare third for an additional haul of NT$17,500.00 (US$555.00).
The past 12 days of competition–from Taichung City to here–have shown the resilience of the Taiwanese poker community and its desire to help propagate the sport, The overwhelming support and passion has been one not unlike the new poker surge being experienced throughout the region, but the APT leaves this place with renewed vigor absorbed from the energy put forth by all those who took part in these proceedings.
This has been among the most successful undertakings of the year and Taiwan will indeed be a constant on the APT calendar for the foreseeable future.
