TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – After a tense Hand for Hand period that lasted almost half an hour, Israel’s Ori Kossonogi finally executed the elimination that the remaining players in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Mystery Bounty were waiting for and now the 26 soldiering on are now eligible to for a portion of the over NT$1.8M (US$57,292.00) in the prize pool at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here.
With the clock stopped with 27 players left in Level 21 (Blinds at 5,000/10,000 with 10,000 BB antes), Kossonogi made a raise from MP and Ying Chang Chen–a tournament regular here with nine titles to his name–chose to defend his BB.
The flop came: K♦ Q♦ J♥ as Ying checked. Kossonogi opted to CBet but then Ying did a C/R all-in for his tournament life, risking his remaining stack of 66,000 and was greeted with a snap call from the former APT champion.
Ying showed Q♣ J♣ for a flopped 2-pair while Kossonogi tabled A♦ 6♦ for a Nut Flush draw and a Gut-Shot Straight draw; a chance to eliminate with 13 outs.
The A♠ appeared on the turn, increasing the Israeli’s outs by adding two more Aces into the equation.
And that’s exactly what showed up on the river as the A♣ arrived, giving Kossonogi Runner-Runner Trips and officially made Ying the Bubble Boy of the competition as the rest of the field still in contention erupted in celebration.
Everyone remaining is not only guaranteed NT$10,000.00 (US$314.00) but also now have the opportunity to draw sealed envelopes containing bounties that could be worth up to NT$109,000.00 (US$3,422.00) should they bust out a player and that’s what happened not long after Ying’s railing as Yu Chi Liu knocked someone out and drew the first envelope of the tournament.
The suspense mounted as he squeezed the amount: NT$5,000.00 (US$157.00), one of the four lowest bounties. However, he gets to draw again if he can bust out another player.
The winner of this event pockets N$288,000.00 (US$9,038.00) and will become the second champion in these proceedings following the victory of Wang Hong Che in the APT Taichung Championship last Sunday (25th September).
Also ongoing now are (Event #2) the the NT$86k (US$2,697.00) Super High-Rollers and (Event #3) the NT5,700.00 (US$179.00) NLH which will both conclude tomorrow. Another satellite for the Main Event with a buy-in of only NT$2,200 (US$69.00). The regular buy-in price is NT$16,500.00 (US$518.00).
