The second main feature of APT Philippines 2019 kicked off today at Resorts World Manila with 96 runners turning up for Day 1A of the P10 Million guaranteed CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT. With the event extending a higher buy-in than the Main Event, a tighter field of well known pros sat side by side. After the eight scheduled rounds, 49 remained. Korea’s Kong Seung Su amassed the largest stack of 295,100 to earn the leader’s status.
Finishing up in second rank was Singapore’s Graeme Siow with 247,800. To round out the top three was India’s Yasheel Doddanavar with 200,000.
It was also a good day for five decorated APT major title-holders: Mike Takayama (193,800), current APT Main Event champion Christopher Mateo (187,700), Cao Ngoc Anh (128,400), Gyeong Byeong Lee (80,600), and Kannapong Thanarattrakul (36,600).
Day 1B gets underway tomorrow, Thursday, May 2 at 1pm. This is the last starting day to enter. Buy-in is P82,500. Registration closes in Day 2 at the start of Level 10.
