Day 1B brought in 101 entries to the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh 2019 – CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT – with only 49 surviving the eight rounds. Impressively, bagging up the two largest stacks were Japan’s Hiroshi Nishiyama (249,800) and Vietnam’s Cao Ngoc Anh (243,900). Both were fresh from winning respective side events last night.
Between the two, Cao Ngoc is an APT major title-holder. He also finished 40th at this series Main Event. Other decorated APT champions qualifying to Day 2 were Christopher Mateo (58,700), Linh Tran (47,500), and Punnat Punsri (142,500). Punsri initially qualified in Day 1A but with a lower stack which will be removed from play coming Day 2.
Other strong contenders bagging up very healthy stacks were Oliver Helm (219,000), Richard Marquez (188,800), and Le Ngoc Khanh (171,700).
