Two days ago, the Asian Poker Tour fired up its engine for the start of the APT Poker Weekend Series Manila 2016 held at the APT Poker Room in Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel & Casino. This eighth APT leg of the calendar season, which will be ongoing until Wednesday, August 17, 2016, has already seen two trophies awarded with another one to be awarded today at the High Rollers event.
Kicking off today’s action at 1pm is the only event scheduled on the roster, the highly popular Head Hunter PhP4,000 Bounty. Buy-in is PhP17,600 with a deep 10,000 starting stack. Blinds increase every 25 minutes. This is one of the most enjoyable events in the lineup. Players are usually very active at the felt early, looking to scalp as many heads as possible to receive the immediate cash bounty. For players who want to get in the action but plan to enter later in the day, registration will close at 350pm just before the start of round 7.
The High Roller event will resume for its final day starting at 2pm. There were 43 entries, each one ponying up the PhP55,000 entry fee. The prize pool grew to PhP2,090,000 with only six players seeing a piece of it. The eventual winner will be scooping up a very meaty first prize of PhP731,000. Returning to the felt today are 14 players led by Norway’s Markus Garberg with the largest stack of 284,300 chips. We will have those results for you on our next posting.
With the Main Event coming up tomorrow, Friday, August 12, 2016, Main Event Mega Satellites have been running daily at 6pm. There are two more of these satellites left to try and get a Main Event seat at a cheaper cost. Buy-in is P3,300. Last night saw three players win seats, Malaysia’s Jin Yong, Singapore’s Tan Jian An, and Filipino Veterano Tan.
The weekend is coming up so for those still making their way to the festival, make sure to book your hotel rooms and stay informed on the upcoming Main Event. For all the information, head to the website.
