With the first tournament guaranteeing $50,000, Asian Poker Tour (APT) regulars trooped to the poker room of the Resorts World Manila (RWM) to open the APT Philippines 2015 with a bang. A total of 264 runners—111 from Flight A and 153 from Flight B– joined the opening day side event of the nine-day festivities set from April 14th to 22nd.
Seen playing on the felt on APT’s first day in its first stop at RWM this year are Lester Edoc, Martin Gonzales, Iori Yogo, Jae Kyung Sim, Jojo Tech, Norbert Koh, Kai Paulsen. The players mentioned are seven of the Top 10 players in the most recent 2015 APT Player of the Year (APT POY) rankings.
Other poker pros that were present were Flo Campomanes, Victor Chong, SJ Kim, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Ian Marcos, Jay Tolon, Kristian Faering and Ha Duong.
The Final Day of the $50K Guaranteed event with $275 buy-in is set on Wednesday (April 15th) at 1:00 PM when the Flight A and Flight B survivors will try to reach at the money round or even the side event title worth $16,060.
Meanwhile, the Ante Up Charity Event also happened on opening day with a third of the collected prize pool to be donated for a good cause through the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation to help build a house for a Typhoon Haiyan devastated family. Regie Ann De Los Reyes of the Philippines won the charity tournament.
Also on tap on Wednesday, April 15th are the NLH Multi Re-Buy + 1 Add-On event with $110 buy-in at 1:00 PM and the High Rollers event with $4,300 buy-in at 2:00 PM. Main Event super and mega satellites are set at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, respectively with the “One Hand” Satellites with $24 buy-in available from 1:00 to 6:00 PM.
