The inaugural APT Korea Incheon 2017 is headed for the most memorable day of the festival with the crowning of its first-ever APT Main Event champion in Paradise City. While the title is something everyone can brag about and add to their portfolio, what they will all be eyeing is of course the money, the KRW 44,860,000 (USD 39,000) first place purse along with the exclusive APT Championship Ring.
APT Korea Main Event Final Eight
Last night, the Final 8 was determined with one past APT Main Event champion in the lineup, Japanese pro Iori Yogo. Yogo is also the reigning APT Player of the Year champion. He comes in right smack in the middle of the pack with 914,000 in chips. As for the rest of the players, this will be their first appearance at an APT Main Event final table.
Entering as the chip leader with 1,971,000 is USA’s Albert Paik. This newcomer to the APT topped both Day 2 and Day 3 clearly showing he is well oiled and ready to claim the title. The next player at the top is USA’s Jinwoo Kim who was the bane of many players. Kim claimed a slew of heads on the previous days and has a stack of 1,619,000 to help collect several more. Rounding out the top three in the seven-digit chip range is Japan’s Kitauchi Yoshihiro with 1,611,000 in chips. Yoshihiro emerged as a big threat in Day 3, butting heads with one of Japan’s top pros, Yuki Ko, and getting the best of him.
Singapore’s Andy Li Xueyan is not exactly a regular at the APT however he is one that has stamped his name all over the APT headlines. On his first APT appearance last month, he stormed in and won three of the side events. Xueyan comes in to today’s Final 8 with 970,000 in chips. The last three players to complete the Final 8 all hail from Japan- Kazuto Sato with 788,000, Kimihura Nakamura with 762,000, and Yuichi Sumida with 616,000. Out of the three, Sumida is the most decorated with many deep runs throughout Asia.

Saturday, August 19th: Side Events
While the spotlight is on the Main Event Final 8, the Monster Stack will also be returning from its scheduled overnight break. 26 players out of the 103 total entries remain with payouts starting at 18 places. The eventual winner will claim the bulk share of the KRW 59,950,000 prize pool amounting to KRW 15,300,000.
In addition, there are several side events on offer with varied structures and entry fees.

Xu Lunjie wins the No Limit Hold’em 2
No Limit Hold’em 2 Champion, Xu Lunjie
While Main Event Day 3 was heating up one side of the poker floor, the No Limit Hold’em 2 event was also burning things up with the final 8 players returning from an overnight break. Outlasting the entire field of 61 entries including the all Japanese final table was Xu Lunjie from China. Here are the payouts.

Tang Jia wins the Ante Only Turbo
Ante Only Turbo Champion, Tang Jia
The Ante Only Turbo wrapped up late last night with China’s Tang Jia overcoming the 43 entry field. Jia faced Yoshida Masanori at the heads up round and with a bit of luck on his side, he was able to double up then close it out. His double up hand was 7♦ 4♦ flush against Masanori’s K♣ Q♠ two pair on a board of 5♦ A♠ K♦ 9♠ Q♦. The final hand was Jia with 7-7 and Masanori with A-5 and a board running 10-Q-Q-Q-J. Jia won the KRW 2,500,000 first place purse and the APT event trophy.
