Final trophy winners: Anthony Paul Hallam, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Changhun Lee, and Enoki Tetsya

The last day of the APT Philippines Championships 2018 saw the awards table thin out significantly with the last four side events claimed. You can view the payouts of all the events in the Events & Results section of the website or click here. Below are the festival’s final event winners:

Anthony Paul Hallam wins the Monster Stack

Newcomer Anthony Paul Hallam took down his first-ever APT trophy after winning the two-day Monster Stack event. The event drew in 109 entries and at Php27,500 each, it built a hefty prize pool of Php2,643,200. 19 players paid.

Monster Stack Champion, Paul Hallam

To reach the money round, the event saw two players all in at separate tables. Seungyeol Kim doubled up with his A-K and went on to finish in 3rd place while Kimura Lee was not so fortunate. He was all in with 4 4 and was called by Marius Zalyps with 5 5. When the first three cards ran 3 Q 4, Lee jumped to a set and prematurely celebrated with his infamous line “ship it baby!” But then the turn 6 and river 7 spoiled his moment with Zalyps improving to a straight to boot him out.

Tetsuya Tsuchikawa claims the 6 Handed Turbo event

6 Handed Champion, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa

The 6 Handed event drew in 56 to the felt to bring in a small prize pool of Php543,200. Claiming the event trophy was none other than Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa. He earned the Php158,400 first place prize money. This was his second cash at the festival with a 14th place finish at the featured Championships Event.  Also sliding in for the money at the very bottom was Richard Nakila. This was Nakila’s 5th cash at the series.

Changhun Lee wins the OFC event

OFC Pineapple Champion, Changhun Lee

The Open Face Chinese Pineapple event had the smallest turnout of the series with only 8 players interested in the game. Still, they seemed to have a good time battling it out with Korea’s Changhun Lee taking it to the limit. He defeated Gerard Bringley at the heads up round. This event only had two payouts divvying up the Php155,200 prize pool. Lee claimed the Php108,600 first prize and Bringley took the rest totaling Php46,600.

Enoki Tetsuya victorious at the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo

Deep Stack Hyper Turbo Champion, Enoki Tetsuya

The final event of the festival was the tornado whipping Deep Stack Hyper Turbo which saw 86 entries for a prize pool of Php417,100. Topping the event was Japan’s Enoki Tetsuya who overcame a very strong final table with players such as Brian McAllister (2nd), Eric Wasylenko (3rd), Fu Bang Huang (5th), Martin Corpuz (6th), and Aso Seitaro {8th) all in the lineup. Enoki earned the Php107,500 first prize and his first-ever APT side event title.
