Here we go! From 169 entries we are now down to the Final Table of 8 at the Asian Poker Tour Finale Main Event. Leading the battle with the largest number of chips is Singapore’s Jeremy Giam Jian Hui with 605,000 chips. Coming in second is Filipino pro Andrew Gaw with 555,000 chips. Both of these players were the leaders coming into yesterday’s day 3 and have claimed those top spots again.
Running third in chips is Filipino player Joven Huerto. Huerto has shown consistency throughout the entire tournament. He was one of the big stacks entering day 2 and bagged a decent one coming into day 3. Huerto currently has 479k chips. In fourth position is Lee Jongyeol from Korea wtih 412k chips. Yesterday, Jongyeol landed a two pair double up against Giam. From there, he amassed enough to be feared at the table. Next in line is China’s Guofu Chen. Chen began day 3 exactly where he left off in day 2, taking chips from Japan’s Kota Nakano. His stack took a bit of a dive in the middle of the afternoon but recovered to return today with 348k chips. UK’s Ben Martin sits with 327k chips. Martin was the reason for some celebration as he scalped Vietnam’s William Kang in the bubble position. S. Korea’s Kyungrok Kim and Filipino player John Sayo cap the last two of the Final 8. Kim has 322k chips. Kim denied Naruyasu Ota a final table berth by railing him in 9th place, and Sayo also railed one, Korea’s Lim Yo Hwan. Sayo returns with 305k chips.
Yesterday’s festivities saw all the poker tables fill up with players participating in the Monster Stack event, the MSW Deep Stack Turbo, and the final table of the Pot Limit Omaha Hi event.
