After three days of intense Main Event action, we are down to the final 16 players of the Asian Poker Tour Poker Weekend Series Manila 2016 Main Event at the APT Poker Room in the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel & Casino. The highlight tournament saw a total of 216 entries, each one contributing P27,500 for a prize pool of PhP5,238,000. Today they will be playing for the sweet first place purse of PhP1,310,000, the APT Main Event championship title, and the APT Championship Ring.
The day’s entering chip leader is Japan’s Gerard Bringley who bagged up 563,000 chips at yesterday’s Day 2 bout. Coming in a close second is Korea’s John Kim with 559,000 chips, and in third is Malaysia’s Ming Ken Thoo with 449,000 chips. While that heats up the room, there are also a couple of side events for all you poker enthusiasts. At 2pm is the Open Face Chinese Pineapple event with a buy-in of PhP16,500. Then at 6pm it is the Deep Stack Turbo with an entry fee of PhP5,500.
Yesterday saw two side events up and running, the Monster Stack NLH and the MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo. The Monster Stack NLH ended with 10 players remaining and will return today at 1pm for the final race to the trophy. The MSW Deep Stack Turbo finished up with Japan’s Mitsuru Sano overcoming a field of 71 players to claim the event trophy and the first place purse of PhP95,400.
