Big day for Malaysia’s Eng Loong Choi at the Championships Event! Choi entered Day 2 running second rank, jumped to the lead early, then closed the heat way ahead of the pack with 1,055,000 bagged. Choi was the only player to cross into a million.
On the road to amassing his monstrous stack, Choi knocked out several players, a couple of them with crushing sets. We will keep a close watch on his performance coming Day 3. The furthest that Choi has reached at an APT featured event was 3rd at the recent APT Vietnam Main Event.
Closing in second and third rank were APT major title-holders Punnat Punsri and Carlos Chang. At one point, Punsri stormed to the lead on a huge double up through Jun Beum Chun with a winning set of sixes. He bagged up 750,000. As for Chang, his consistent rise throughout Day 2 chipped him up to 631,000. Other decorated APT champions also through were Neil Raine (497,000), and Graeme Siow (416,000). Entering chip leader Chia Yun Wu made it in the top ten with a very healthy 356,000.
WSOP bracelet winners making the cut were Alex Lindop (169,000) and Ji Young Kim (142,000). Dutch pro Tobias Peters will also be returning to hunt for his first-ever major Asian title. Peters has multiple international awards under his belt including a WSOP circuit Main Event title. He bagged up 263,000.
