TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – By the time registration was officially declared closed, 213 entries were tallied to add to the already 278 that were recorded in the first two days of competition bringing the total entries to 491 in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event, the second highest mark ever attained in the country’s history right here at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club).
The APT Taiwan record of 523 garnered during the 2019 series still stands safe–for now, as the late deluge now brings the guaranteed prize pool up to a staggering NT$7,158,600.00 (almost US$250,000.00) with payouts to be determined at the end of the current session as the remaining aspirants will be trimmed to 26 runners before declaring everyone still standing ITM.
Reigning titlist Kitty Kuo finally made her appearance at the event but busted out in Level 9, hence a new champion will hoist the trophy at the end of the tournament.
Day 2 takes place tomorrow (2nd October) at exactly 1:00PM (UCT+8) and will play down to the Final 8 which will reconvene for the championship on Monday (3rd October).
Meanwhile, local favorite Yi Cheng Xie barged into the win column by taking down (Event #8) the single-day NLH by annihilating the field of 39 entries en route to the trophy and the NT$57,100.00 (US$1,795.00) top prize.
Chia Lin Huang finished in second place for NT$38,000.00 (US$1,195.00) while third went to Tsai Sen Yuan for NT$26,500.00 (US$833.00).
The third of the three NT$27k single-day High Rollers (Event #9) and the exhilarating (Event #10) Deep Stack Turbo (DST) are still ongoing as of this writing.
