The weekend has arrived and the US$1,650 buy-in APT Main Event, the highlight tournament of the Asian Poker Tour Kickoff 2017, gets underway at 1pm here at Resorts World Manila.
Today is the first of two entry flights with the last one, Day 1B, held tomorrow, January 15th. The eventual winner will be the first APT Main Event champion of the year, and will take home several prizes including the gorgeous solid silver APT Championship Ring.
As introduced last year, the Main Event Bubble Protection will be in effect. For those unfamiliar with this fantastic incentive, the player who falls one spot shy of the money will be awarded a consolation prize of “one free seat to the next APT Main Event of the same value”. Here are the three easy steps to qualify for the protection:
- Pre-register
- Draw for your seat before starting time
- Have your chips put into play on the first deal of round 1
For re-entry players, it is important to keep in mind that being eligible only applies on a same day re-entry. Players that have qualified for the protection in Day 1A but have busted out will have to qualify again if they intend to re-enter in Day 1B. This also applies to players attempting for multiple stacks.
The past two days saw the Main Event Mega Satellites award several seats. Those winners must use their ticket today. For players still looking to get in the main at a discounted price, there will be one more satellite offered, the Last Chance “1 in 5” Main Event Mega Satellite. Buy-in is US$360. One seat will be awarded for every five players.
The APT Main Event is scheduled for five days, with Day 2 on Monday, January 16th, Day 3 on Tuesday, January 17th, and the Final 8 on Wednesday, January, 18th. The ongoing APT Kickoff 2017 will run for a total of nine days from January 11th-19th.
