Chris Leung wins the Deep Stack Turbo and Anthony Abram claims inaugural APT 5 Card PLO Hi

The biggest thrill on Saturday, December 7 at APT Finale Taiwan 2019 was the Deep Stack Turbo with 107 suiting up. Also running was the newly introduced 5 Card Pot Limit Omaha Hi seeing 20 in action. We’ve got those results for you below. Just a reminder, everyone that cashed were awarded points towards the APT Player of the Series race. Standings can be viewed via the link below.

Chris Leung wins the Deep Stack Turbo

Half the room filled up with 107 hunting down the Deep Stack Turbo title. At NT$ 5,500 each, the prize pool came to NT$ 504,400 (~US$ 16,600) with 18 earning pay. Winning it was Hong Kong’s Chris Leung for NT$ 128,400 (~US$ 4,200). 

Catching the action at three-handed, Chris Leung doubled up through chip leader Yusuke Kotake with A-Q straight over A-10. Kotake then railed Mushin Chang in 3rd place with K 10 pairing up on a board 10 6 5 3 7 to overtake 9 9. Kotake entered heads up leading in chips.

The first heads up hand went to Leung to reclaim the chip lead. From there no action until the 6th hand. Kotake shoved with K 2, Leung called with J J, the board paired Kotake’s two-card but not more for Leung to ship it and lift his first-ever APT title.

Anthony Abram claims inaugural 5 Card PLO Hi

Despite only 20 players trying their hand at the newly introduced 5 Card Pot Limit Omaha Hi, it still ran for ten hours. Bubble round lasted for quite a while leading the players to agree on giving 5th place a small kick back to nullify the bubble. When action continued, it ran another two hours. Australia’s Anthony Abram closed it out for NT$ 80,400 and the first event title of its kind at the APT. 

After Abram knocked out Lin Yu Sheng Q A 7 K 3 in 3rd place with J 9 K 10 8 two pair on a board 2 6 J 9 A, he faced Sam Hung with a significant lead. It took only several hands before the final showdown occurred. On a flop 4 Q 8, Abram had 5 7 6 J K, Hung J 10 6 6 5. The turn A and river 7 for a winning flush to Hung’s lower flush.
