We have reached the final day of APT Philippines 2019! The event kicked off on April 24 at Resorts World Manila with a total of 23 events filling up the schedule over the course of twelve days. Several events will be wrapping up today.
Under the spotlight and on our feature table is the Final 8 players of the CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT. This was the second highlighted tournament of the festival. Out of the finalists, two players are APT major titleholders. Japanese pro Iori Yogo was the first player to ever win the APT Championships Event twice. He first claimed it last year this time at the same series then a second at APT Finale Philippines 2018. With his commanding stack, he is well on his way to lifting his third title.
The other decorated APT champion is Korea’s Gyeong Byeong Lee. He won the Main Event back in May 2016 at APT Experience Manila. Both champions herald in as the top two chip leaders.
Among the remaining contenders, Spain’s Inaki Santos finished 2nd at this same series Main Event back in 2014, and last year, Korea’s Siyoung Lee finished 16th at the Championships Event and 11th at the APT Kickoff Vietnam Main Event. These two players along with Byungwook Ahn, Ken Foo Hsien Loong, Li Rongshan, and Seungsu Kong are seeking their first APT championship title.
