Day 2 recap
Day 2 opened with 87 players out of the 209 entries returning from the starting heats. With registration still open for three levels, it pulled in another 79 to set a new APT Vietnam Championships Event record attendance of 288 entries. Korea’s Ham Heung Chul carried in the chip lead and survived the day with a 19 BB stack. Second ranked Chien Than saw his stack swing all day finally resting at a very healthy 79 BB. Than was the reason for Ankit Wadhawan to amass the second biggest stack at the end of Day 2. Wadhawan had a commanding full house over Than’s trips Twos. Zarvan Tumboli entered the day ranked fifth in chips and stayed massive throughout. He climbed over a million in chips after making a hero-call on a King high board with pocket Tens to deny Nguyen Ngoc Dai the pot. His last knock out was Kanchan Sharma with pocket Jacks dominating her pocket Nines.
One of the day’s most impressive climbs was decorated APT Main Event champion Hue Dang who had dropped down to 20 BB halfway through the day. She recovered and closed Day 2 with running 4th in chips with 676,000 (135 BB) bagged up. Another decorated champion making noise was Akshay Nasa who went head to head against high roller Hieu Ngo numerous times and eventually got the best of him. This awarded Nasa a mountain of chips which he carried until the end. Two other champions persevering were Huy Pham with 32.8 BB, Nguyen Van Sang aka Hoa Thien with 26.6 BB, and Huu Dung Nguyen with a stack equivalent to 21.8 BB.
You can read up on some of the day’s action via the Live Updates.
